Best buy have today opened their first store in the UK. What's best buy like, is it any good?

It use to be my favorite store... I bought digital cameras, movies, car stereo equipment. But now it's Fry's Electonics.

Fry's is great if u know what you need, best buy is great if u like to wander. Best buy will negotiate also.

I work at a Best Buy, it's incredibly tough not to get my paycheck and turn around and blow it all on stuff there. The job itself ain't nothing to write home about, but even a janitor in heaven is glad to be there ;-). (and the employee discount is AMAZING!)

No argument there, although it's only on certain things. Stuff like wires and certain accessories are marked up pretty high, but most things like DVDs and the main hardware items are not marked up that much (especially apple stuff, we get no discount there). But also alot of special "employee discounts" are through special partner accomadations like where Sony for example will sell employees stuff and a price below cost, which is less than best buy pays for the sales floor product. But yeah it's a business trying to make a profit, so there will be a markup -
We've always bought our large appliances there & liked them in the past. Although last year, I had to buy a new dishwasher and I was really disappointed with their selection - both in the store & online.
