haha I do that to if I can't think of another wordI'll be the first to admit I ant spell for the life of me but I try a least. I blame it on being part of one of the first generations to have spell check on word perfect(wow not many will know that one). Now I go on google to spell check myself if I need to lol.
Schulzie, just remember that "too" is like the word "also." So if you can substitute also, then use too instead of to. -
I also hate it when people use words like "ur" for "your." Half the time I can't figure out if the poor spelling is supposed to be shorthand because they are too lazy to type the whole word, or if it is actually poor spelling skills. I certainly make plenty of mistakes, but I at least try to use correct spelling & grammar. I'm not sure why so much of it seems to come from kids. I sure hope they try harder on their schoolwork!

Same goes for text talk. It also kinda depends on how you were taught to read. -

Just because it's (usually) possible to understand a misspelled word, doesn't mean you shouldn't try to spell things correctly. Besides, when your brain has to interpret the writing, like that above, it makes reading slower. As for shorthand, the problem (for me) is that I can't always tell if it's shorthand or if the person is that horrendous at spelling. I'll grant you that the word "ur" is most likely shorthand. However, not being able to tell the difference makes the other person "sound" ignorant or uneducated. That then makes me seriously concerned about our educational system!

Mystery- I think women are more articulate and careful about spelling in general. I personally suck at spelling and texting on this little screen does not help.

Interesting theory Johnny. I know that men's fingers are (almost always) bigger than women's so it is easier for them to hit the wrong letters. Spell check helps but it's not always consistent. Sometimes it totally misses when I misspell something, other times it turns a correctly spelled word into the wrong word or a seemingly random letter. Sometimes hitting the wrong letter gives me a good laugh. For example, I was just reading a thread where someone accidently listed 2 invite code sites & said they were "food sites." The next post they corrected it so it said "good sites." That's not as big of a deal and can even be quite funny! 😄

I guess it just seems like people don't even care try anymore. They just assume everyone else can figure it out so, why bother? It's that attitude that I find disturbing the most. I don't expect people to be perfect - I am certainly FAR from perfect! I just like to see that they care.

I'm pretty bad with were and where. Also when I write (not type) I seem to add E's at the end of each word
