No Influence?

How do you get to level 54 with 0 influence? Not that anyone should, but there's a guy on my fight screen like that. He's 22 levels higher than me, but I have almost 1100 influence points and a bigger mob, and he can beat me in a fight! WTF?

First of all influence means nothing, and theirs also weaponry.
