You must be young. 21? 22? Early nowadays. I've been married for 24 years, wouldn't have it any other way.

You should have not gotten married. Marriage is not a choice you make to be happy. It is one you make because you love someone. It is a commitment. If you aren't happy, just remember that you get to spend the rest of your life with someone you love. If you don't love her, you've made a mistake.

Married 18 years and very happy. That's not to say its not a lot of work. But isn't everything worth having? I recommend counseling, which is offered free in most religious establishments. I say there was a reason you guys got married and you should be honest with each other before walking away. Every relationship has its ups and downs, don't know what you got till its gone (no joke).

This is nuts! My wife and I are on the verge of divorce as we speak. We've been together for 9 yrs, lived together for 8 and been married 2 yrs. We have a 5 and a 2 yr old. We've decided to try and work on things but I feel she's keeping things from me. She says that if we try and it doesn't work it will be because we got together when we were too young and we've changed. It's hard to think of a life not spent with my kids every moment. Has anyone here tried counseling and if so, did it work or atleast help? Any advice is appreciated. Especially from you older guys with experience.

Absolutely couseling works, as long as everybody gives it an honest try. I look at it like a coach for a football team. He's not "on the field" but can sure be the difference between winning and losing.

Getting married is the best thing that ever happened to me! I have a great wife and 4 awesome kids!

I would love to get married but I don't think they will ever allow us to get married in Indiana. 😒

God no, getting married and starting a family is the thing I'm most proud of followed by my time over seas. If I could do anything differently it would be getting married sooner

Get yourself over to the U.K. they can't use the church argument over here. There are some churches that will quite happily marry gay or lesbian couples. It's 2012 for crying out loud, not the middle ages.🌈 Yeah, I'm lesbian 🌈
And it is Pathetic 😳

Been married 19.5 years. Together about 24. Do we love each other every day? No. Marriage is not "bliss"; it's teamwork. We are committed to each other, and that gives us the security to also be annoyed with each other. It's that inherent trust in one another that makes the whole thing work. If you don't have that, or respect one another, then I'd question what you do have. Remember: you can't expect those from your partner if you're not giving them.

I agree with 👆. I have been married for 20 years and even though we have our tough times I wouldn't change a moment. Build on the happy and thoughtful moments and go from there.
My parents were together for 50 years and they gave us the same advice when we started out.

Man I've been married 13 years it goes up and down, but we love each other. If you don't put effort into it won't work. I learned that if I get mad at her I'm only thinking of myself and what I want ,not considering how she feels.there is a really good book that could help you guys it's called "his needs, her needs" check it outDo you think marriage is for people who r scared to be alone iv been married for two years and I think I messed up getting married I want my old life back!

The meaning of marriage is not the same as it used to be. Getting married used to be a life time commitment to the one person who you couldn't imagine yourself without, your best friend, your soul mate. Nowadays it's a white dress, a fancy house, and a big rock. Divorce is too easy, marriage is a "until we get divorced" deal now and not a lifetime commitment. Honestly if you are not 110% ready then don't get married, live in a de facto relationship instead. I think it's quite sad how something like marriage now has basically no meaning to anybody. I'm married and I love my little family to bits, marriage was the missing piece to our puzzle :)
