No you can't. It destroys the turf.

That is correct...Vendettas are used for defense just as much as they are used to attack. However, you only have to knock the other two players into ER before being able capture/destroy a turf of one of the 3 players in the V. Not to mention you also have a 30% reduction to your defense against players that aren't targetted by your V. It's not always good to be in a V for 24 hours.
