Pen Pal for my daughter?

Does anyone have a daughter around nine years old that would like to exchange letters with my daughter? I am looking for someone outside North America. If so, please post a message on my message board and we can exchange information.

It will be an exchange of hand written letters with my daughter Abby. Don't turn this into something dirty please. She is quite excited about having a friend overseas. It will be completely supervised by the parents.Perv alert

Would any strangers like contact with my child? You'll need to have her address if that's ok?

Alright I'll just set you two up on the webcam before I leave her alone in the house from 8:15am until 5pm while I'm at work

I don't assume the worst about the world. I grew up with a pen pal in Australia as a kid. It's a wonderful way to expose kids to different cultures.
If someone would prefer email that's fine. As I mentioned, I expect the parents to supervise all communication. Please keep your negative comments to yourself.

I grew up with a penpal in Texas. I could never understand why he wasn't a rangers fan.

Ask your daughters school if they have a scheme for this. When I was 11 my school provided us with details of those who wished to have pen pals from other schools in europe.

I had a pen pal when I was in 8th grade. Her name was Simi I think. She was from Kenya. I thought it was weird she didn't own a phone.

While it's not a penpal service per se, I take part in a service called Postcrossing. The idea is that you sign up, get an address of a member, and send them a postcard of something cool near you. Once they get yours, another random member sends you a postcard from somewhere in the world.
While it won't give her the rapport a pen pal would, it is a really cool way to see & learn things about other places around the world. Some postcrossers I know also use it as an excuse to go take pictures of their cities, and then have the pictures made into postcards.
Anyway, thought I'd mention it. :) Hope she has lots of fun however you choose to go!

I just find the idea of giving out a child's address to strangers on the internet, in this day and age, is a bit risky. I'd use a penpal service as a go between or stick to e-mail based penpals

Schools can organise this through an organisation. Don't go with some weirdo from turfwars, it could be anyone writing to tour daughter.
