I wasn't going to post this till I got official confirmation, but I'm dying to let it out.

I've been invited to join a RAAM team. Race Across AMerica.

The downside is it's only as SAG and not as rider. My dream is to one day race this event, but I'll take whatever I can get from it.

The race starts in Oceanside, CA and ends in Annopolis, Maryland.

There are 50 or so time stations along the route, and I will be claiming each one.

May be time to resurrect the Turfin' USA thread.

Cycling race across America. Single stage. Unlike those Pansy French who take 3 weeks to do their thing in the tour de France.

RAAM solo record is 8 days. 4 man team record is 5 days.

3000 miles.

On bicycles.

If I get the gig, I'll be in one of the support vehicles.

The solo class is insane. I've done 24 hour races before but these guys... They'll ride the first 40 hours non stop. Break for four hours and the ride 20-30 hours at a time with 2-4 hour breaks.

The teams run relay style. Only one member on
the road at a time, so they will a bike on the road at all times, 24 hors from start to finish.
