Thread Necromancy
Forums βΊ General Discussion βΊ Thread Necromancy-
Please don't "bump" old threads unless you have something interesting to add. It would be nice if we don't have to start auto-locking of old threads.
Thanks.
-
Stick this PLEASE. Thread necromancy is annoying and a waste of forum space.
-
AMEN!!
-
15 week old thread was jump bump. Weak. Do what you gotta do. It is a waste of space.
-
Yep, I try to punish them when I canπ

Ok, I'll stop, I honestly do think I was helping newer players (see :,-(, and actually READ my posts) but I'll stop bumping

What about usefull threads in the help section Nick? For example Matts turf hopping formula or the questions thread. Is that still ok with you?

Thanks.
If certain questions are popping up, and someone bumps the relevant thread, I would assume that is OK.

What about the tw commandments, how do you discuss rules? Do we let it die? Do I post a new one every few weeks?

Yeah totally, if it's a useful thread in the Help forums that you have something to add to then go for it. We can also sticky more threads in that forum.

High level boarding. This forum is in desperate need of HLB'ers.
Without gigs or jpegs or YouTube embedding, this forum can only go so far
but may I suggest that the following to all those who have itchy posting fingers:
1. Stop bumping 20 week old threads unless it's utterly relevant
2. Be more selective with ranking/list/favorites threads.3. MORE INSIDE JOKES. if the world has lolcat and casual dog and pedobear, it's time we start to make normal phrases out of our turfwars jargon. "oh him? He gasfaced." = "oh he got burnt out and basically quit" or "did your turfs get thuglifed?" and so on and so forth
-
4. If you are not that funny or experienced with public forums, THINK before u post. "do people really care if I just had sex with a floozy?"

I liked the old turfwars lingo thread. maybe I should bump it.
-
I would but unfortunately it's probably to "old" to be bumped no matter how good it is/what content is relevant, and while I'm here I have a question Nick, what is considered "old"?
-
It's not so much a question of age as it is of relevance.
In the Help forum, bumping is almost a necessity. When someone takes the time to pen a long, detailed answer, it's much easier to bump it than to try to explain again.
In forums like General, there's really no need for bumping at all, and the only threads that should ever be stickied in General are Administrative Announcements.
99% of people posting here are not nearly as witty or as funny as think they are. Myself included.
You don't run around all day repeating yourself do you? That's basically what thread bumping amounts to.
It's one thing when your being witty with your friends before homeroom, and at lunch you see a different set of friends, and maybe you'll repeat the same conversation.
-
But that's the beauty of message boards-it's there for all to see for all eternity. And look around, it's the same group of people, day in and day out. Your thread was read. Trust me on that one.
If you're thread is worthy of comment, it will be commented on. Otherwise, let it die. Not everyone is going to find everything said in here interesting.
