Why it's bad to be Thuglife...
Forums › General Discussion › Why it's bad to be Thuglife...-
I know these threads have been started many times...but I hope this post convinces more people that what he is doing is wrong...and not the intention of the game...and that he inevitably may be the downfall of TW, unless Nick can turn things around quickly.
I've recently started going through and posting my code on people's comment pages...and I noticed one very startling fact...that there are a LOT of people that have reset their accounts and have stopped playing the game completely. I can only speculate that this is mostly because of the actions of tyrannical players similar to Thuglife.
-
For those who don't know, Thuglife has one of the top 10 mob totals...and combined with a matching arsenal, allows him to beat at least 95% of the players in this game.
Nick tried to implement a fail-safe in the game to prevent very large players from picking on/attacking small players...this is the 10% influence rule. Thuglife has gotten around this rule by removing most of the upgrades on his turfs...which makes his total influence so low that he can still capture turfs from about 90% of players. And he not only captures them, he wipes them nearly completely out. And the fact that he leaves the turfs at 1-influence makes them uncaptureable and undestroyable by anyone...even by a stronger player or players.
-
As far as I understand it...this is not the intent of the game...Nick and the other developers never intended for players to be able to do this. I know we've had some discussion as a community on how to fix this problem...but I can only hope that Nick figures out a fix for this problem soon...as I'm sure he's aware of how many players have actually reset.
I really enjoy playing this game...but if we don't get new blood in here, and get them to stay for awhile...the game just won't last.

I'm glad I'm
not on his bad side 😳 lol but I agree somethin has to be done -
Some people may say that I'm crying or whining or whatever...but really, he's not directly affecting my gameplay. He can't touch me unless he V's against me. And he tried that once and failed miserably. But...I don't like the fact that he picks on all the defenseless little guys and wipes them out. He hasn't cheated that I know of (although there has been some talk by many players about how he gets around with his turfs...but without proof, it's only speculation)...but in every game there are ethical/moral boundaries that players try not to cross...and I feel like he (and others like him) have crossed that boundary.

Right on night! I couldn't say this better myself. Anyone who looks at NY (namely Brooklyn area) he has wiped out almost all of the players there. And I'm not talking about worthy players. Some with under 100 mob. There's no reason someone with 3000 mob should be able or should take turf from someone that small. I understand that Nick dosent want a "end game". But by letting thug exploit the game means more players will continue to quit.

It seems like one simple way to fix something like this...would be to have a mob-size comparison check too. For instance...the defenders mob size has to be greater than 10% of the attackers mobsize...or maybe 25%...or something like that. I haven't completely thought about the ramifications of this...but it seems reasonable thinking about it in this context.

Very well said night.
-
A mob multiplier to influence would solve the trick. Each mob equals a permanent influence number. Example- 1 mob equals 5 influence. A 3k mob player would then have a minimum of 15k influence which would protect small and upcoming players with less than 20 turfs
-
I am not sure what the magic number would be but it would be a very safe and easy rule that is fair to everyone
-
That's a very interesting suggestion Johnny O...should definitely solve the problem.

How did a certain player get on this so called turf wars mighty team list when this thread calls him out for doing the things you say to petition not to do?
Just curious.....

I sent him a mesarge threting him to change his ways or I take him off!!!

Well said Night!

And just to clarify...I have nothing personal against Thuglife...I don't know the guy at all. However, he just happens to be the player who is currently most blatantly abusing the system at the expense of other players. I'm all for using the rules of the game to the full extents to benefit me as a player...however, I do not do so if it is greatly affecting the gameplay of other players in a mostly negative way.

This game isn't balanced at all so all Thuglife did was the logical thin to expand

I would not agree I say he misused the hole in the rules!!!This game isn't balanced at all so all Thuglife did was the logical thin to expand
!!!!!!!!:-( :-( -
That is incorrect. To expand, you only need to take one turf...and then take another turf that's at the boundary of the turf you just took...and then another turf at the boundary of that turf...and so on and so on. What Thuglife did (and is still doing)...is taking any and all turfs that he can, irregardless of where they are or who they are. Regardless if they are a 300 influence player or a 20000 influence player...regardless if they are a 100 mob player or a 2800 mob player.

The point is...he could have easily expanded through the areas that he wanted to expand through, without completely wiping out every other player's turfs...just because he could.

i still think the best thing is to merely close the influence loophole. im not really for creating more rules and restrictions

I still think 1 mobster= 1 influence is a good idea to solve this.

As I've said elsewhere, I'm not promoting any particular solution...just trying to make everyone (including Nick) aware what the problem is...and hopefully there's enough discussion here that a solution to fix the problem can be found.i still think the best thing is to merely close the influence loophole. im not really for creating more rules and restrictions
