Double tap the home button and switch off any apps running in the background if you are experiencing shortened battery life.

Apple just released that update to specifically address that battery problem. Hopefully it works.

You have a 4s? If you leave Siri open it leaves the proximity sensor open.

Yesterday, Apple pushed out iOS 5.0.1, just about four weeks after releasing iOS 5 to the masses. Among the reported fixes: battery life improvements, following a confirmed bug in the initial release. We're hearing reports that battery life remains an issue for some iPhone 4S owners, however, and that it's been reduced even further for others.

No problems with my battery. New 4gs. I can now get about 4 hours use. Much better than my 3G.

Yeah with light to moderate usage today. I left the house today at 95% and now as I'm writing this post I went down from 49% - 48%. I'm well aware of shutting down running apps and how to use Siri responsablly. Im well aware of how to reduce battery drain. But I'm simply comparing to my 3GS. Both running iOS 5. My 4S seemingly drains quicker. I haven't compared again since the update on both devices but I will post a update this weekend.

My only beef with trying to solve battery issues (also I've managed my push notifications and locations services wisely) I refuse to reduce my brightness. I'm not at full brightness. More about 3/4. But I feel very strongly about paying good money for a retina display and not fully using it and enjoying it. It's basically the same as why I refuse to put a case on any phone again. The device feels better and was designed to be comfortable in your hands.

My iPhone 4s battery lasts a long to me personally I stay on it all day playing games and on the interweb lol but I just updated to 5.0.1 so Ill see if I helps
