Children who were sick used to be passed under a Donkey to try to cure them.
People remember this happening as recently as the 1930s.Most anecdotal evidence doesn't correlate with any serious investigation in to the majority "home" remedies are unsupported by evidence.
Most body heat is lost through the head: FALSE.
Feed a cold, starve a fever: FALSE
Wait an hour after eating before swimming: FALSEThen, there are some really bat-shit crazy "remedies" like Homeopathy and other "Energy" medicines.

We also have aloe Vera juice in the fridge. I can't remember what that was for. I'll have to ask her again.

Oh and just a reply, but being to lazy to sort out who I'm replying to in this thread.
Just read my container of vicks vapor rub. It's suggest absolutely NOT placing it in hot water, nor considering drinking it. But while I've never drank it... I can tell you. Throwing the container in hot water, and giving your chest a rub down with the oily stuff, totally works better than doing it while it's room temp. Oh and rubbing some in a surgical mask, and wearing said mask gets you light headed... But I'm not suggesting a god damn thing...

To whomever suggested pissing on your feet to cure atheletes feet, right you are! When I spent about a year in Hawaii years back, I learned about the healing properties of piss. I cut my leg on ocean coral. Hurt like hell and refused to heal. Pissed in a cup, and poured it on the cut after a week of it stinging. Cleared right up. As in it worked within 12 hours.

7up doesn't just help hangovers. It settles your stomach when you have a cold or flu. But Gatorade works far better. Being sick or hung over dehydrates you, and rids your body of electrolytes. Gatorade is absolutely full of them. A Gatorade and vitimin water tripple X (XXX) is awesome for hangovers. Electrolytes and antioxidants are to you, what manna was to the israealites.

Reiki has no never been found to have any physiological effect beyond placebo; while people report feelin better, this is largely due to the relaxing nature of the therapy.

A brief, but critical look at Ayurvedic "medicine": http://www.skepdic.com/ayurvedic.html
"Ayurvedic medicine, in the United States, is an "alternative" medical practice that claims it is based on the traditional medicine of India. Ayurveda is derived from two Sanskrit terms: ayu meaning life and veda meaning knowledge or science. Since the practice is said to be some 5,000 years old in India, what it considers to be knowledge or science may not coincide with the most updated information available to Western medicine."

Got PubMed links to the research that concludes that 7Up "settles the stomach" during a cold or flu?
7Up, more importantly water, is what is needed for a hangover.
Hangovers (the head aching) is from your brain reducing in size due to water loss, mainly due to the diuretic effect of alcohol. This reduction causes the brain to pull on what are essentially tendons that connect your brain to the inside of your cranium.
An yes, Electrolytes are important.

Arnica. I'm betting it was homeopathic, too.
Wanna confirm that before I spell out what it is for everyone that doesn't know?
