IOS5 - Verdict......
Forums › General Discussion › IOS5 - Verdict......-
So, I tried to find a relaed thread on this but it wasn't on the first page and I'm lazy... So....
Verdicts on ios5.... I like it, alot. Not major changes but nice subtle ones. iCloud works well and I'm loving the notifications.
I did notice a rather large downside... I leave my iPad uncharged at night and it used very little battery on ios4, but on ios5 and I'm guessing the notifications, my battery was drained. When I went to sleep the battery was around 50%..... Not sure if this will effect the battery life long term but it's a little annoying.
I don't want to start turning things off to preserve battery life, I just want it to work.
So, overall... Yes, I really like ios5 but it does have a few issues.

I'm impressed by a few things, notifications are good, the widgets are disappointing, the newsstand is meh.... I like that they separated videos and music.... iMessage is a good idea also. Overall I'd say it's good but not great....
-
I've not really noticed a slow down... I feared that. Notifications are a massive improvement... But I agree on the battery, I tend to let it die then charge it and when I went to bed last night it had 10%, and was dead this morning, where usually there was a bit left.
The newsstand well yeah but only a few monthly mag subscriptions to buy.. And typically no cheaper than the actual versions which is crazy as the printing costs are removed. -
Also I'm probably being dence but.... Can you change the notification thing when you bring it down? Unfortunately I don't have shares in new York and I don't care what the weather is in London....
-
You get notifications on weather/share price??? I want that 😃😃😃

I'm loving the mirroring with the iPad and the apple TV. Too bad my TV is not touch screen.

How do you download it?

I noticed after the install that bluetooth had been turned on. That may be you battery fix.

I don't know yet. I think my ipone4 is a touch slower. I know my first gen iPad is slower. I don't do much on my ipad2, so I can't really tell on that one. But all three are definitely using battery quicker than they were before the update.
Widgets? I haven't found those yet. -
Just done the switch. I feel a bit naked without jb and my 5 row keyboard, however, my device is actually running much smoother than when I was on 4.3.3 jb, I've had no issues of slow down on any app inc tw map. I had no issues with the installation and resync of apps (got all non-jb apps backs.
Once iOS 5 has installed and you've configured the initial setup you simply re-connect to pc and it will sync apps. Then tick the sync via wifi in iTunes and ur ready to go.
Very impressed so far, want to see how notification centre works with the new tw notifications. 👍

Hmm... Can you provide links to your claim of an unteathered jailbreak... Only 3GS with old bootrom is jailbreakable atm. All the others are teathered.... Don't post what you don't know...Looks like greenpoison and redsnow have unteathered ios5 out an available (I have not tested) but ultraslow and a provider unlock is not yet available for base band unlock

Correct. I checked more in to it. There's no official untethered JB for iOS 5 on iPhone 4/4S, iPad 1/2.rigs4kids wrote:
