Need advice with an xbox
Forums › General Discussion › Need advice with an xbox-
Ok a while a ago a had a regular xbox 360 and it got the 3 ring of death. Just before it got 3 ring of death they was a huge lag and my xbox froze and it was like that for a while so I turned it off and back on and got three ring of death.
I got rid of the old one and bought a new power supply. I got a new xbox and when I got it, it have 3 ring of death so finally I got that fixed and it was working for a while then again there was a major lag and my screen froze. Turned it off and back on it was working but I turned it back off. -
The next day I turned it on it had the 1 ring of death but it didn't make sense because there was a screen then I turn it off and on. And it got the 3 ring of death. I highly doubt it was the xbox I think it's my wifi adapter messing it up?
What do you guys think? -
Get a PS3?😜

I have had the same problem. It could possibly be a power surge. Have you recently had bad weather? PM if you need to ask me anything. I'm not sure how much help I can be.

this happens all the time. you must be buying old xbox360 not a xbox360 slim. it doesnt matter if you have a single ring or a 3 ring RROD. once you get it you will continue to get it. it is caused by the processor overheating. i would advise you to get a 360slim with the 250g HD and either throw the old one out or mod it, hack it, and burn games to play on it.

Does my theory of the wifi adaptor make sense?

ya i did the same thing. i drilled out the board put in the washers upgraded the fan better paste. added another fan to cool the box . did the overheat process and all that jazz. got rid of the RROD for about a month. the i got the single RROD. did a overheat set and it went away for a week and became a weekly things rither single or three RROD. trust me even if you save games to the HD and play them like that your old xbox will just continue to overheat. games i have had the most trouble with on an old xbox are fable 2, any madden game, GTA IV, assasins creed. etc its just outdated. like playing the sims on a pc running win 98 lol

It doesn't have to go out. It is more like a surge. Perhaps it went out somewhere else in town and when they got the power up and running, it surged throug the whole grid. It's kind of like giving a lightbulb too much electricity and it just pops and goes out.FREE☠MASON wrote:

I had the same wifi thing all three times. -
oh i didnt understand u bought a slim. the true classic games can cause problems on a slim. like i was playing NFSUG2 the other dayt but i cant play it in split screen with another person it glitches but that is a true XBOX original classic. no i would agree if u have a slim then you prob have power surge or brown out issue. i would advise buying and using a quality surge protection plug strip to plug electronics into. one with a surge indicator to let u know if a MOV has burned up inside it.

I still have my old xbox 360, but i use an xbox slim instead

The problem with ur xbox is if it's in a small crowded place the air can't go true it and dust starts to build up in it and around the fans. My advice is get it cleaned out, get new elite fans in it if u have the old 1, and then get it chipped cause it will save you a fortune on games in the long run

The red lights indicate thers not enough air goin true it, doesn't matter about ur power suplie as long as it's sitting the right way up

Strange when I got my first 360 back in January 06 I'd just opened and set it up and got the ring of death, switched it on and off a couple of times wouldn't go, rang customer services they guided me through some steps and then it was working perfectly

That's not the piont it's not that. The fans are powerful and are closer the the graphics cards. I don't play that long. The back of the xbox is closer to cold than warm after playing for a few hours. The red lights indicate thers not enough air goin true it, doesn't matter about ur power suplie as long as it's sitting the right way up

You have no idea what you are talking about. The red rings can be caused by a lot of things. Sir, i would suggest to get the secondary error code(google how to do it, its very simple) and PM me the code or post it here.this happens all the time. you must be buying old xbox360 not a xbox360 slim. it doesnt matter if you have a single ring or a 3 ring RROD. once you get it you will continue to get it. it is caused by the processor overheating. i would advise you to get a 360slim with the 250g HD and either throw the old one out or mod it, hack it, and burn games to play on it.

I would say( probably gpu related) send it in( if under warranty) if not. Buy a new one or see if someone can maybe fix it
-
No I bought the new xbox with all that. But yes it was working than it stop. Got it repaired it was working now it stopped. So your saying old games can be the problem? The oldest game I have is either dirt 2 or MW 2 I remember the last games I played on my first and second XBOX 360 was Tony Hawk's Project 8. That was the ONLY GAME THAT I PLAUED ON THE SECOND. the second last for less than a week. Maybe it is the games?
