Any military men/women here?
Forums › General Discussion › Any military men/women here?-
So I'm re-watching Saving private Ryan and it seems to me, as a civilian that many of the situations, reactions and subplots, even the premise of the film, wouldn't happen like that in real life. For example, if soldiers found an enemy like that he would become a POW(or killed), surely they wouldn't just let him go?
Can any of the military folk tell me how accurate this film is?

I'm not in the military but the opening D-Day scenes are supposed to be extremely realistic of he D-Day was. Many WWII vets had to walk out the cinema it was so realistic to them.

When I was in, POW was typically not the goal or an option...
I think today it would depend on an individual unit comander and proximity to a base ot transport to a base.

I've been in the Marine Corps 7+ years. Couldn't tell you how accurate the film is, but Generation Kill is on point.
