What us a truly good horror movie

I TiVo'ed the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. I'm less than halfway through & having trouble finishing it. It's not as good & hard to get into.

Has anyone heard if the movie "It"? It's about a killer clown that torments children. Scariest movie I've ever seen in my entire life.

I almost forgot the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, enough said...

N.O.L.D. fan here. 🙋
Romero is brilliant. First was made in October of '68 in time for Halloween. There are seven or eight different versions made for various reasons. Zombies are metaphors for society fears. Classic. Quarantine was alright. Sequals are horrible. Elephant Man is genious but surrealist drama and not horror. It is a story about a guy who has irresponsible sex out of boredom who knocks up a broad. I love the film. Most can't make it through sleepers though. People who think this is horror just don't understand the film in my opinion. Signs is not horror. That is science fiction.
A new film I thought was amazing was the European original 'Let the Right One In'. Beautiful and original film. American remake was sad.

Anyone remember the chucky films. The killer doll

Original chainsaw massacre is classic. The scene where leatherface is swinging the chainsaw in mad rage in the middle of the road is stuck in my mind. Exorcist was ground breaking. Poltergeist is great. I agree Hellraiser was good. Another good film by Clive Barker is Lord of Illusions. Original elm street films were a revelation. The Evil Dead series is wickedly wonderful. Children of the Corn is good. Child like scares like Chucky, Rosemary's Baby, the Omen, and Puppetmaster are interesting.

The Hills have Eyes and People Under the Stairs are good cannibal films. 28 hours was nicely done. Arachnophobia was best bug horror I have seen. Some don't like bugs. The Wicker Man is good. Wild. Event Horizon scared me. Lol. Open Water. The Fly. King's movies are good. I liked Pet Cemetary and Gates of Hell. Session 9 I heard was great. The first Saw film. Silence of the Lambs (knock off of 'the collector' in my opinion). A Tale of Two Sisters. Pan's Labyrinth is weird. Ju-on is much better than 'the grudge' imitation. Rec is what 'Quaranteen' copied. Invasion of the body snatchers still scares me.
Reality creeps me out. Jacob's Ladder is like that. Also, so does 'the ring'. Bondage horror in 'hostel' and 'audition'.
-
Thinner was a great King film. Ringu was better than the imitation 'the ring'.
These are my newer considerations: Inside, martyrs, the girl next door, eden lake, backwoods, the children, frontiers, midnight meat train, i stand alone, irreversible, and oddly Requiem for a Dream (if we consider erasure head horror) are some truly wonderful horror films.

I have a great love of horror. One of my favorite werewolf films is 'the howling'. Dog Soldier's is great. American Werewolf in London has an amazing scene. Best reason to hate cgi abuse in recent films. This scene is so great.

'the thing' freaked me out as a kid and the Blair witch project was a freaky film for me personally.....especially right at the end when that person is stood in that room against the wall,I didn't like that for some reason 😱

What about the movie I cannot really remember the name of it but something like room 4219 or something. Where a guy who is an author of horror books goes to a hotel and checks himself in a haunted hotel room to spend the night and goes through his personal hell. It was made I think about 6 years ago or more

Scream3

Event horizon, not usually my thing but this done it for me, the ring (Japanese) really put the shits up me, couldn't sleep with tv in room for ages. Most zombie films, I have a genuine phobia of them and feel sick whenever there on, can't help but scare myself though.

Insidious.
Paranormal activity 1&2.
Halloween 3.
The grudge.
You would shut yourself over any of them! -

That film started off good, where the little things kept changing in the room. But then it just got big and silly and ceased to be scary in the slightest.Killing Man wrote:

The manager gerald olin has by far the best lineGerald Olin: No, you misunderstand. Whatever's in 1408 is nothing like that.
Mike Enslin: Then what is it?
Gerald Olin: It's an evil fucking room.

not really horror but i just love dawn to dusk. oh and let's not forget Eraserhead lol.
I grew out of the slasher flick scene pretty quick in my teens, I guess.
only horror'ish films I loved are rosemary's baby, the omen, the exorcist, the fly, the shining, alien and dracula.
the zombie thing just never appealed to me or scared me but I thought shaun of the dead was totally groovy.
-
House of wax with Paris Hilton. Have you seen her acting worse then her music!
-
Paranormal Activity 1. #3 looks good too. Can't wait for it to come out.
-
in terms of just scaring the living daylights out of me, one can't go wrong with silence of the lambs. omg.😳
-
The Thing with Kirk Russell. Always disappointed they never made a sequel. Now a remake is about to come out.
