Do you think the average player is better off in or not in an official alliance? Been thinking about this. My gameplay on average has actually gotten better since I left an alliance more freedom and a chance to work with a larger variety of players. And no one holding me back and telling me to drop conflict. But on the downside the social aspect os still way down. Which leads me to the conclusion that an alliance is good for social gameplay but not necessary for regular gameplay at all

Being in the alliance that I am, i've had no problems doing what I want. I guess it depends on the alliance, you have 1s with dictators who give orders and 1s with team mates who assisst. Personally, i'd be bored senseless without an alliance now. I'm in it 'til the day I call time.

So what alliances are out there? Obviously I'm aware of DBR , TWFC , LAW and CMS but is there any more?

This is a really good question, in my mind there's not a right answer either. As TW said there are perks to both, I think the players personality comes into play a lot.

If they are a hot head or weak player an alliance is probably the better choice as it offers protection.

If they have any kind of people skills going solo and making friends/allies like Randog said is the way to go as being in a formal alliance limits what you can and can't do as you mentioned ß.

Then you have other scenarios where a player wants to war, a change of play style, a tighter group, ect.

Pretty sure you know my play style by now, I don't think you have to be in a formal alliance to have a great social game though. At least I haven't. ✊

I like feeling part of something and it's much more entertaining playing in a team .:)

When I was in dbr it was a great community and you do make good friends from it.... But what I got tired of was the constant war... Waking up to 1000's of attacks.... Plotting revenge etc etc... I found when I was in an alliance, TW kind of took over my life a bit.... I left to slow down my gameplay. It's nice but I do miss the good banter and stealthy attacks on Fluke! 😉
