No retry for me. Also, I have been using the old maps due to the new map being less stable. Since the last update, I switched back to the new map because the old map started crashing constantly.

I've never had the issue either? I'm on 3GS iPhone using old maps.

How big/obvious is the yellow retry thingy? Bigger than a breadbox? Could I have missed it if I was in denial about the new/ugly glasses? Is it similar to the retry warning on the invite mobster page that I see on occasion?

No retry bar. The screen just goes blank. All other pages work. Just the home page goes away

I never got it until the server upgrade. Since then it seems I get it at least once a day.

It just happened to me (9:19 pm central). I was on the "Your Turf" screen and hit the back button & it went to a blank home screen. I've only had this happen twice before, but not too recently.
