Phasing out FaceBook
Forums › General Discussion › Phasing out FaceBook-
So Google+ went life and as a person who generally hate facebook, or at least what it's become, I'm looking forward to phasing out facebook. It's weirs though, I won't just stop using FB. Gotta "phase it out". Anyone else dropping facebook for google+? Keeping both? Should i start a turf wars circle? I've think it has potential to compete solidly with FB. If fB didn't keep changing their layout and taking our info I don't think g+ would have a chance. But I know my grandma and mom are sick of trying to adapt to all the changes fb makes. But changing all together is going to be hard on the older generation too so they might just stay where they are. What do you guys think? Do we have a contender?

Sorry bout the typos...6am

It looks good. Anyways, I think google is going to take over the world some day. First, search engines. Then computer technology. Then social networking. They already have their own robots. Soon, they will build Google "cities", Google "Jury", "Google Death Sentence", etc. GOOGLE IS GOING TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

I got in to beta months ago. Didn't do anything with it and just made my first status update a few days ago lol. I'm note sure about + yet, it has potential to give fb a run for it's money definately but it'll take years to get to their level in terms of users. Also, its surprising how many 3rd party apps/companies integrate with fb and vice versa, google like to stick to themselves, can't say I've heard much success about google wave? Chances are mark zuckerberg will start moving in to new ventures too. I can see him in 10 yrs as google is now.

I Quitting Facebook. Google is better at everything on the web.

I'm oddly cool with it too. lol
I think their first move is to take down apple and windows os. Think about all te little satellite programs and stuff google has. Put them all together and you have a replacement for windows or apple. I already use mostly google programs. Especially now that I have my droid and have seen the light.

I am really starting to hate FB, every time I get used to the pointless changes they go and change it all over again. The only thing I like is the convenience of the iPhone fb app when I'm out. Haven't looked into Google+ but I think now I might.

Google reminds me of Børg that way: assimilate everything, and destroy the rest. I bet eventually someone at Google (probably Sergey Brin and Larry Page) will become majority stockholder for Windows and Apple.I'm oddly cool with it too. lol

They're now in every software Market. + is released. Soon chrome OS will release..which looks interesting, will be a minority of user though I think. I wonder what's next for both companies. Google don't really innovate though, everything they do is copied. 1 thing I'm sure of is google will become a distributor of solar power.I'm oddly cool with it too. lol

Google space mapping. I bet they'll do what NASA can but better 1 day lol. First tech company on the moon!
-
I just read up on googles 2011 acquisitions. Looks like they're going after the e-tail Market too. Amazon has competition.
-
I'm pissed it went live... I felt so cool having a tech company invite... Oh well. Now I have nothing sweet to flaunt.

And all that's gone, or harder to obtain now on facebook. Fb is so full of clutter and ads and bs now. 400 people I havnt seen in ten years. Had that one "omg it's been so long what's new?" convo and then havnt talked to them since. Plus I don't like how any pic you post of fb is property of fb and you could very well wake up tomorrow and be the next poster boy for hemmeroids and there's nothing you can do about it cause you hit "agree" with out reading the ula.krissharm wrote:

But vadan taking someone elses idea and streamlining it and making it mire user friendly (define that for yourself) is the definition of innovation. Innovation by imitation. The Japanese have been doing it with hardware for years. Taking a product someone else thought of and making it small or faster whatever. I know what you mean, they didn't come up with that idea. But we'd all still be driving model t's if people didn't expand on someone elses idea.BigBK wrote:

For the record I agree with you...was just sayin

Honestly I don't care. I only use Facebook so people can invite me to parties, so people can send me messages, and so I can creep the slutty pics of that chick I just met last night. It just is meh. I don't hate it. I will also keep a gplus. I don't really feel like using energy hating something I just use sometimes. Its like cutting a slice of bread, and then hating the knife, because I could have used an electric saw. Facebook is a tool. Google plus is a new slightly different tool.

Good point. I hate fb is way too much effort. It's just annoying. I put off getting an account for the longest time, never had myspace or anything. Only got one because I sailed alot and it was the easiest way to send pics to my family from abroad. But then I got caught in the friends race and fb got so cluttered If I'm not on fb mobile I can't even figure out the full version so I just stopped trying. I'll never close my account but it's definatly not getting checked 5 times a day once + is in full swing. Good analogy with the bread though.Facebook is a tool. Google plus is a new slightly different tool.

Ugh google+ still has age restrictions.

I just watched the F8 video, on what Facebook has in store. I don't believe they are going anywhere. They have lots of new stuff in the works.

What google does is take something that people already have, and then super innovate it. Back then, before PageRank, we had stuff like Altavista and Pagerank. Google just did the same thing, except 100x better. Google only innovates things. They don't pull out things similar to the competition so that there is room for argument. No, everything they do will be much better. Looking forward to Google +.
