What makes for a stronger mobster in battle, stocking up with Tommy Guns or Lapuas? I've lost fights I thought I should have won and I'm curious how much the difference in Attack vs. Defense matters.

Both is best. To go with one strategy or the other depends on who your fighting and your own playstyle. I'd say defense over offense for most players. You can always get a v for offense but defending with a v is harder
