I'm thinking of getting one. What are the pros/cons?
-
Less stable os. Less reliable device. Less available apps. But more flexibility also androids tend to be faster with better screen resolution
-
What exactly do you mean by less stable and reliable?

The os has a little more chance of crashing and restoring isn't as easy. But your phone provider can do that for you. All in all I'd say droids are worth itWhat exactly do you mean by less stable and reliable?

Plus droids can get viruses easier. Think of it as pc vs Mac. Same comparison and mostly the same pros and cons

Mostly I think android is worth it. But I appreciate and use both os

Actually iPhone has the better screen resolution than androids but android phones do come in bigger screen size versions.
Not sure how you compare them Belial to say androids tend to be faster.

I hope your right. I just ordered a thunderbolt but might switch to an iPhone if I don't like it

To me it sounds as if "droids" are more headache than there worth. But more than likely the post below this will negate that....👇👇👇👇👇👇

👆👆👆👆👆👆👆👆 Because I know everyone is looking for a "NEW" phone with less battery power, that crashes more, that's more maintenance, more virus friendly. It's a win win for everyone....Do it people start drinking the kool-aid and "YOU" too can buy a new "pos" phone that make you more irritable than you already are now....

Android phones are constrained to the handset makers' OS ports, meaning new OS updates and releases from google are many times not supported or are in limbo while your handset maker ports the new version to meet your phone hardware specs....or never ports or supports it. Apps are not centrally distributed, monitored for malware, or tested against quality standards, good apps can be recompiled with malware then redistributed.
Android is fragmented and inconsistent across hardware that supports it...I'm all for open source an I even use Linux daily, but black box iDevices just "work" and work the best....

There is a lot more to processors than just ghz. Plus you are comparing current CPUs in this years androids to an iPhone that came out two years ago. We shall see what the iPhone 5 has in it.Spectre 👊🔨💀 wrote:

I'm getting an android phone because I'm getting an android tablet. Let's face it guys...the iPad is a big iPod. While you're struggling with ITunes work arounds I'll just plug and a USB stick to my full size USB ports. When you're out of memory I'll pop in a new sd card. Does anyone have a mini hdmi? Oh nevermind I have a full size hdmi port. Te biggest techy IT guy I know swears by apple...but could "never own a non-jailbroken iPad". No thanks I want all the frills and gimmicks right out of the box.

This debate has been done to death like the ps3 xbox360 one. It all comes down to personal preference and wha specs mean to you. I'm less concerned with a website loading .5 seconds faster then I am with ease of file sharing. As I've said before I'm in the navy and when I run out of movies at sea I want to be able to just drop your movie on my memory stick and drop it on my device. Full size USB and hdmi and expandable memory are the selling points I'm looking for. The missus who loves her iPhone and isn't going to sea for 6 months at a time is getting an iPad. I'll let you know a side by side comparison after Christmas.

If your os works fine why would you worry about it? I've still got froyo and don't think htc is ever gonna port honey comb. But froyo is fine so what's the big deal? I would agree with you 5+ years ago when phone OS was written with a fixed set of functions in mind, but times have changed and smartphones are highly scalable in their functionality. To answer your question, it's a big deal because eventually devels will stop writing apps for outdated android variants, leaving users holding the bag. Imagine the horror when you can't install angry birds Hannukah because your handset maker decided not to upgrade and push out an OS that the software can run on. -

I'm completely on the fence so until 5 comes out and wows me (if it does) I'll just stick to a mix of both 😉 -

I get 18 hours outa my iohone4 with playing on it constantly Vs my mrs whi has the htc desire hd and the battery lasts little over 6 hours... That's how I see the batteries stacking up.
That said the htc appears to have more on it and is far more customisable and flexible
But!!!!!
