Well I'm off to Miami soon.. So looking for ideas on places to visit/ avoid (: advice please😋

Mojo's pool! Top of the list.
-
That's useful thanks lol
-
Ya, well there really isn't much else to do in South Florida. The beaches have been closed due to an influx of unbathed refugees. Something about e-coli, not sure exactly. And most of the attractive men down here have left as well, moving me up a spot.
So Mojo's pool is still at the top of the list. Sort of a no-brainer, I'll have brochures in hotel lobbies starting next week.

How much tourist time will you have? Will you be renting a car? Do you really want to do anything in Miami besides lay in the sun and party until it coms up again? That's the SoBe usual.
-
Ecoli? I have ten days in Miami.. Yes prob will hire a car. Although I hear the locals r mad drivers lol

You are close to the Everglades so an airboat ride is always interesting...drive to key west has interesting views and if possible go snorkeling or scuba diving off the reefs offshore near sugarloaf key or key west. Drive up coast to get a tour of NASA...swimming at beaches along the way. Rent a jet ski and traipse around the inter coastal or out in the gulf is fun. Visited Coral Castle near Miami as a kid and the memory stayed with me all my life...might still be a tourist spot...incredible what one man did for love.
Or just lay in the sun...that is usually my first choice :)

I was going to suggest the Everglades and a trip to the Keys as well. You might also consider a trip to South Beach if that's your thing. Be sure to try some Cuban food. If you're considering a trip to NASA, you won't be terribly far from the Orlando theme parks. Don't forget to spend an afternoon in Mojo's pool. Have fun!

The last time I was in Miami I got a massage from some lady who used oils that smelled like fish, went to the dolphin mall and bought some books, and then proceeded to read and get smashed in my hotel. That was a shitty time. It wasn't that there wasn't antything to do, I just was not a happy person at the time. At least the hotel was nice...

Coral castle is still open to the public, and it's on the way if you're heading to the keys from Miami. Mojo's pool is also on the way from Miami to the Keys. I didn't build it for love like Ed did...ah screw it, I can't compare to that. It is a bit of a cheesy place (mostly location), but a cool story and amazing that one little dude could do it all by himself. I've been there twice with out of town guests and haven't gotten a complaint.
If you want to meet wildlife, the airboats are a cool way. Google "shark valley" if you are interested in a slower experience. Pretty cool stuff, nothing between you and mother nature if you walk the trail. Plenty of airboats minutes of shark valley too.

You probably didn't choose Miami for it history (nothing left of it anyway) or cultural experience, so The beaches are the place to be. South Beach, and Ft Lauderdale beaches are great, and Hollywood Beach is cool too. SoBe has more beach between you and the bars, has a casual attitude to European (topless) sunbathing, and is huge. The nightlife is almost endless in SoBe. Hollywood beach is small, but you're very close to bars/food/shops. It's a little on the seedy side. Ft. Lauderdale is great, close to the bars/food/shops like in Hollywood, and a beautiful beach. There is nightlife, but I've never partied there after a day at the beach, so i cant tell you much about it.

Cheers guys for all the tips.. I'm mega excited.. Just hope the weather is good! (:

Look out for a Cuban restaurant down near the waterfront in the city where the tour boats cast off. Can't for the life of me remember what it was called but it's near the entrance to an indoor Market. While you are there grab a boat tour of celebrity mansions!!

Yo I heard the rainstorms ain't nothin to mess with
But I can't feel a drip on the strip, it's a trip
Ladies half-dressed, fully equipped
And they be screaming out, (Hacksaw we loved your last hit)
So I'm thinking I'm a scoot me something hot
In this south-sea meringue melting pot
Hottest club in the city and it's right on the beach
Temperature get to ya it's about to reach
Five-hundred degrees
In the carribean seas, with the hot mommies
Screamin (ay, papi) -

Goto South Beach! Walk along and check out the cool art deco hotels.. Check out the sunbathers, where even grandma can get inflatable puppies and show them off (😱)..
There is a pedestrianized mall on Lincoln Road, and they have a small flea market with stalls selling cool stuff (antiques, oddities, arts & crafts stuff, etc) ..
There are a number of great restaurants on Ocean Drive, including some owned by some US celebrities..
Mahi mahi ...
There is a Cuban bar there I forget the name of, distinctive in that they use neon colours indoors and UV lights .. People dancing on the tables and having a great time chugging cocktails .. Mangoes or the banana bar .. Someone like that ...
Have fun!! -
