Clint vs John

Who was the better cowboy?
Clint Eastwood or John Wayne? -
That's hard. Clint was more real. Sometimes he was as nearly as bad as the bad guys. For that I've always liked him better. But John Wayne was the quentessential hero. Never really did a wrong. I've always wished they would've taken the time to do a movie together
-
Clint, no question.
-
Clint he's great
-
Listen here pilgrims. The Duke rules!
🐽🍴🐮
-
Listen up TW, the Duke is the man and while I respect your right to a different opinion tread carefully.
-
John Wayne cause Big Jake says so
-
The way I see it, John is the original but clint, he just plays a more real kinda guy from that era
-
John Wayne played a couple of "bad guys". He was in Angel and the Bad Man (character's name was Quart Evans) and he did some movie about 3 outlaws carrying a baby across the Mexican desert (I forget the name of the movie). Either way, whether John Wayne was always good or not, the Duke was a bad@ss. That being said, Clint Eastwood was waaaay better at being a lowdown dirty scoundrel. He's just MEAN.
-
Sone really good points from most!! Different eras. Love em both, but I'd have to go with John Wayne. John made some really bad movies to start his career. I loved his last movie. The Shootist with Ron Howard.
-
Billy the kid was the better cowboy!

They just remade a Duke film earlier this year. I watched that and JW's and thought JW's was great. -
I was pretty impressed with the new one. Jeff Bridges was good and Damon was a huge upgrade over Glen Campbell, who made the original almost unwatchable. I'll give y'all this, Clint would've kicked Campbell's ass for that bad act.
-
I know this not a cowboy film but has anyone watched "where eagles dare" thats got Clint Eastwood in and he's great in that

Hey, I liked jeff's take. What I really liked about the new one is they stuck tighter to the book. I read the book when I was a kid and saw they left out some great scenes likely due to censorship of the time. They included them in the new one. That was not JW's deal.I was pretty impressed with the new one. Jeff Bridges was good and Damon was a huge upgrade over Glen Campbell, who made the original almost unwatchable. Agreed Iks
-
Lee Van Cleef plays a decent 'by any means necessary' good guy.
-
And Eli Wallach is just pants all over. I would have to go with clint. But has to be said that JW is still an American icon. I don't think clint has made it there just yet. Plus you'd never find JW hanging around with orang-utans.
The tipping point really was dirty Harry even tho not a western (based in California tho).
-
When I think about this question I think who would make a better Roland Deschain. Therefore I choose Clint.
-
Watch Heartbreak Ridge, then change your mind.
-
Clint

I say who cares... None of you are as cool as either of them so it doesn't matter. Now stfu before Chuck Norris shows up and fucks someone up!

And Chuck Norris can't act so that eliminates him from this thread.

John was the old cowboy. Clint did good cop shows. Both are the best.

I like chuck. He was good for his time.
