Tell him to go by a bb gunIn November my friend is cycling across America for charity. On his own. No back up. (for terminally Ill Children). Now. My question. Will he be better off armed? If so. What's the Law for a UK citizen in regards to firearms? He has never fired a gun in his life.

No offense but that is the worst thing he could do.Reaper💀 wrote:

2nd cousin of mine used to bike back and forth from TX to Harvard Med. Used to conceal his cash, etc. rolled up in the frame of his bike rather than a pack for safety. Never had an incident, but that was the eighties. Now only your friendly neighborhood TW players know the secret 😜.I'm a Texan and proudly own guns. I'm even in the NRA, but really he'll be fine unarmed. Just don't carry all that cash he's collecting in a buggy behind the bike. Notify the local press and police depts. before he hits towns. Someone back home can easily do that for him. He'll be great. Folks do this stuff all the time through Texas and the US.

Is it the best thing to fire off your first weapon at a person?

unless he's taking sponsorship/donations and carrying all the cash on his bike lol i would think he'd be ok without a gun.

He will be fine. I'm sure he's talked to people on the forums for best routes. Some local bike shops might even join in for part of his journey.
As far as buying guns at Walmarts, I see them for sale in rural Walmarts that would have a decent market for them and you do have to go thru a back ground check. As far as gun shows, unless it's an individual selling there, you still have to go thru a background check plus with it being a hand gun that he would be purchasing, there would be what they call a cool off period (3-5 days, varies from state to state) before he could take delivery. Being that he's probably here on a short term visa, he probably wouldn't be able to "legally" perchase one anyway.
Tell him good luck, use common sense and he should be good to go! -
Gun or not. Hope he raises sone serious cash. Bless him for the great cause. If he bikes through PA, I'll donate. I wish ur friend the best

I really don't know TBH. He's under the impression you can pop in Wal-Mart and just buy a hand gun. The UK gun laws are very different!Surely it depends upon the state? And a licence is still required?

It's the USA wildlife that he may need a gun for. He's going to be sleeping in a tent in the desert. Is this wise? On his own?Reaper💀 wrote:

Just tell him to arm himself with hamburgers. If anything kicks off, toss a few in the yank's direction and then proceed on his merry way.

You don't need a gun. Stupid thing to have on you. Police are more likely to harass than citizens.
