❔❔Is Suicide Selfish? ❔❔

Like a lot of you I used to say suicide was selfish. Until I tried it!
Won't most if you will never know is true depression. Yes.. We've all been down or depressed, but not the kind if depression that makes being awake agony.
Depression is a chemical imbalance. If you get out if wack, there is little you can do to get it back. I remember the days leading up to my suicide attempt everyone thought I was on drugs. I couldn't put a sentence together and walked around disoriented in a daze.
If ur lucky enough to sleep it's the only break you get from the agony ur brain puts you through. -
I remember thinking if anyone would spend 10 seconds in my shoes they would say.. Holy shit dude.. I had no idea how painful it is.. Yes kill yourself.. I'd be selfish to ask you live another second with that pain.
-
So... Eventually your brain gets so effed up it reprograms itself for self destruction. Seriously... You become a robot with one thing on ur mind... Ending the pain! I truly believe this is nature's way of eliminating ur defective DNA from the world.
-
The thing is... Turns out old Shake-N-Bake has a heightened sensitivity to Caffeine. Didn't know that when I started eating nodoz and vivarin like candy. Through off my chemical balances and there you go!
Bottom line is folks... It's not selfish... It's about ending the nightmare. -
All this being said... It's fixable. Many times simply delaying someone from killing themselves for a day or even hours might be enough to get them through the rough spot enough never get back to it.
Also... It's incredibly lonely.... You feel alone... Do everything you can to make sure they dont feel like they are going through it alone.
That's all I got!!! I hope this helps you understand the thought process a bit more.
God Bless You All!! -
Thank you for sharing Shake. Hope others understand and can learn something from your honesty.

2 years ago a coworker I was close with ended his life. He was married and had 4 kids, oldest 15, youngest 5. I talked to him often at work, he was always friendly, never upset, a nice guy. After the initial shock, I became very upset with him, I couldn't understand how someone in his situation could do something so selfish. How could he do that to his kids and wife? I talked with close friends and family and the story unraveled. It was exactly what you describe shake, a chemical unbalance that he was trying to control with medications. I think it is difficult for someone that is lucky enough to not suffer from this illness, to understand how painfull it is, i got a glimpse of it from the story his family shared with me. This event open my eyes, and shake, I am glad you are trying to open the eyes of other people.

See, in Dante's Inferno, they mark suicide as one of the greatest crimes that could get you sent to hell. See, that's not because you killed yourself, because you're already dead. Nothing can do about it. But it's the family and friends that'll be hurt later, that's the sin. Apparently suicide is the same as murder, in god's book(the bible).

(no offense to lep)

Sometimes in that moment suicide is the only rational choice in a temporarily unrational mind, I don't think it's selfish, I think it's unrational but not selfish.

Thanks for this post shake

Thanks or sharing shake... It's a very complex issue and until you've been through yourself or with someone close you can't fully understand.... Depression is like cancer for the mind....

Actually, it's the unbelief/non acceptance of Jesus Christ (Son of the Living God) dying for your sins & being your savior(or saviour for the British). Sorry Arboc, this has been too diluted IMO. Everyone believes in God( whoever or whatever that might be)but not Jesus Christ as who He is. ✌.__Don_Line__ wrote:

Actually Ahithophel who was a councilor to king David committed suicide. He hung himself after traitorously helping Absolom David's son try to take over the kingship of David. Even after being a traitor and committing suicide he was given a proper burial( 2Sa 17:23). I the Hebrew scriptures only those who were not given a proper burial were not in line for a resurrection one example is Jezebel who fed to the dogs.See, in Dante's Inferno, they mark suicide as one of the greatest crimes that could get you sent to hell. Thanks Shake for shedding light on this for me.

Shake, amazing.
Just recently a good friend tried to kill himself. He didn't succeed and now I feel I am his only hope. He has no family, no job, no money to pay rent. He had totally given up so I reached out and offered him a place to stay and all the support he needs. He is moving in a couple of weeks and It's worrying me alot. As well as the financial burden he will be until he finds work, I'm worried that I don't have the experience or knowledge of what he is going through. After his attempt on his life he found out his step-brother died in a motorbike accident....
I will never let him down and I promised that we would get him better.
What I wanted to ask Shake is if I could get him to speak to you, would you spare him some of your time. I think a person that has experienced what he is going through (depression, no will to live) would enable him to open up fully and realise that he can make it through the dark times. Thanks -

There are wonderful sites dedicated to suicide... How to recognize signs of depression, what to do if ur faced with a loved one considering it, and great support groups. -
I have mentioned counselling/support groups but he was against the idea. Do I keep pushing the issue? I'm hoping I can make him realise that talking about it will help. Should I sign him up and drop him off without him knowing? I don't want to treat him too sensitively as I feel it won't be beneficial to him. I also don't want To act as if I'm his father.... There is a fine line I'm hoping I can get right.

I always suspected you were "a bit off", now the truth comes out.... Thanks Shakey, and here the wife says I'm never right.

Shake...... It really is good to have you back.....

Last year I went through minor depression. I was on a few strong prescriptions for my arthritis and headaches, plus my closest friend stopped hanging out with me and took our friends with him. I was able to work through it with poetry, it really helped.

I think people are to sick to be selfish. People need to aleast try to listen to them . You don't need to tell people they are selfish.they need someone just to listen. Be nice.
