I think fathers should make more of an effort to teach their children to spell.
-
Ive told my wife if she wants to leave that's fine but the kid stays. Or I'd hunt them down :)
-
Well then what's your view of corporal punishment
-
Death rites?

I agree; however, on the flip side if the father is a dead beat and is not helping his family it should be more strict. Tired of seeing bums getting paid cash and not paying support. I feel like a lot of fathers fall short in the responsibility department. Mom's too.
Complicated issue. Only so much time in the day and times are tough. If a person has a job I'd say they are doing alright. If they have kids and make sure they are doing well in school and staying out of trouble while still being kids I'd say that is good enough.

I don't think it's too far that when getting a divorce the children seem to always go to the mother. If I ever get a divorce, I want to keep my children
-
I agree, I have two boys and if me and my misses ever split I would take them full time without a doubt
-
At least where I'm at. If the father is a deadbeat, they end up on the nightly news, and possibly in jail.
If the mother is a dead beat, no one cares.

Ha. That was my first thought exactly.

As a proud father of a gorgeous lil girl I would fight to the death to keep her under my roof!
On the flip side if it's best for her to stay with her mum (if we were to split) if it meant she would have a better quality of life, as I have more earning potential then her mum then so be it!
That said even if we were to split my daughter and any kids I may have in the future, would be taught how to earn respect and live properly and not like these youngster we have these days! No family values or discipline!
I'm young but I live old school and behave myself and respect others so will my kids! ✌ -
👆bit off topic! Sorry! Yes more rights would be nice! 👍

I have seen to many fantastic fathers have their children stripped from them by a sexist court system that believes women are better to raise children because of gender. Even when education, money, and public opinion say otherwise. Even when the mother was a criminal. I think the system is antiquated in this respect and has been for a long time. That clears up the ambiguity I left in my previous comment a bit.
-
Why is it that sexism is only a problem when it is against women? People should be treated for who they are, not their gender.

I also think people marry or have children without much thought, accidentally, and/or before they are mature enough or in a position to be ready for these responsibilities. Often because of pressures from others. This is also proof that they are not ready though. These decisions lead to real struggles that to often impact the children's lives for decades and contribute to many issues society faces. Sure, they're people that pull through but I would prefer taking these steps when a couple is secure, mature, financially secure, and excited and ready to handle the challenges to come. For example, insuring your family.

I think we are expecting a court that doesn't know the parties involved to make a serious decision about our personal lives. The better lawyer will win, regardless, which is frightening.
The fact that most mothers are better caregivers than most fathers is a safer bet than having some jaded stranger on a bench decide who the better caregiver is based on crafty arguments.
By default, the mother should get them, unless it can be proven she is unfit. This is how it works in most places.
The minority of fathers that are truly better caregivers get screwed, but hey... It's government. What do you expect?

a sexist antiquated system that can be harmful to children when it's meant to protect them.

Completely agree. I just turned 30 and we are still not ready to have children.
