Any chronic headache sufferers?
Forums › General Discussion › Any chronic headache sufferers?-
Not sure if anyone remembers but over Christmas I done a post about having a chronic migraine, it last 9 days, well for last 3 months I've been on painkillers every day to treat a headache that won't shift, I remember a few people said on my Christmas post that they have chronic headaches but can't remember the advice! So any advice on tackeling this headache? It's ridiculus :(

Btw I have spoken to doctor a million times and they said it's a tension type headache, but gave me no other advice, hence why I'm asking any fellow sufferers for tips

I get occasional migranes, you know the one ones that start off with distortion in your vision and finish up making you want to vomit your lunch up?
Apparently Certian things can trigger them, like foods or an exercise, I don't know, but you could try and work out your trigger and avoid it.
As for actual cure. The dark, quiet. I'll use paracetamal, aspirin or ibuprofen, any work but only usually in reducing the effect rather than an all out cure.
Oddly I have found coffee can help me too, I have no idea why, as I work shifts as in night shifts I tend to avoid caffeine as a general rule. -
So maybe I'm more sensitive to it?

I've heard caffiene in low amounts is good at curing a headache, normally my triggers are loud noises or computer screens (gaming) but considering my goal in life is to be a games designer it kinda sucks! Oh and today a car journey triggered it :(

Remember to take breaks from the screen, set your phone alarm maybe an hour at a time, at work I'm on the screen for 12 hours so I make sure I get away from it often.
Also make sure you are hydrated like to the point where you have to go pee often, eventurly you will get used to the increased fluid.
I found after the gym I kept getting headaches, and it was really annoying, and it was a
Suggestion I got, and seems to help. -
Being that it's a tension headache, did you ever try a massage? I'm pretty sure I suggested that before.

As a cancer survivor, I know this: you possess the power to find your own cure. Spoke to a doctor a million times? Speak to another and another and, if necessary, another.
After multiple surgeries, I had 100 days to find an oncologist and commence chemotherapy. I met with several, including a man whom I was told was the "best in the world" at treating my form of cancer (@sshole). Finally, I found a healer I could believe in, completed his program and I have been cancer free for 9 years.
Put in the time and you will find someone who can help you.

At Bella yeah I tried a massage, 2 infact but as I suffer from severe anxiety and stress problems my feeling of relaxation went pretty quickly :(, at one thumb, I will keep trying my mates want me to go for an MRI to make sure i don't have a tumour my doctors seem to want to do anything but that, but like you said I'll just ask another one etc etc, I'm glad you are ok now :)

I'm a pretty f***ed up kid, I get bad migrane like haedaches and I've got a lot bone/joint problems and I see doctors a lot. As for the head aches I've seen 3 neurologists and they all wanted intense drugs or lifestyle changes. I've tryed every lifestyle change you could think off, no gluten, no dairy, no high fructose corn syrup, no trans fat, lots of water, more sleep, more exersize, less exersize, and many more. The thing I find best is just sipping a coke and sitting down. I hope you can find somthing that helps.

My headaches come as a result of an idiot playing with a flashbang grenade in our tent over in Iraq. Warm compress to my forehead and those Icy Hot wraps around the base of my neck gives great relief. What pisses me off the most is not being able to enjoy fireworks with my kids and riding rollercoasters which was my favorite hobby.

Caffeine can help cos it dilates the blood vessels and so increases bloodflow. But too much caffeine and caffeine withdrawal can give you monster headaches

Yo. I used to get migraines all the time for years and couldn't figure it out. I finally realized my right shoulder blade is out and I've gone to physical therapy twice to find out how to retrain it. Now daily I do stretches and exercises that focus on my shoulder.
I suggest 2 things:
1. See a chiropractor that is also trained in ART. They might discover the source of tension.
2. Visit a physical therapist. They will focus on your posture. Most people suffer from migraines due to years of incorrect posture.Best of luck. I know they suck.

treatment for tension headache are...
1. pre migraine state or in an aura = mild caffeine
2. on migraine = cafergot (caffeine plus ergotamine) a medication that has two opposing effects..since migraine is the widening and tightening of blood vessels in an eratic manner..to counter u gotta use the med.. -
I suffer from chronic migraines since 3. Nothing much you can do. Though now I get them one in a few months, it comes back where I get it almost everyday. It's like it's seasonal. I got these drugs that take care of it and put me to sleep. IMPORTANT: if u have a full stomach or have been eating something satisfying like ice cream , you are less likely to get a migrain by a lot .

Don't see a chiropractor.... It's pure quackery!

Prescription migraine meds usually help my migraines (mine don't put me to sleep). Prescription painkillers sometimes help the tension headaches. My neck pain sometimes causes headaches too. There's a prescription lidocane patch that you can put on your neck (or anywhere) to help with stiffness/soreness. You can also get a prescription cream; both work well.

No it's really not. I was having pain in my neck and was getting headaches from it for 8 months. My neck and back were out. Got my whole body realigned and was fine from then on. Not sure how realigning your bone structure is pure quackery. Now, eating sugar pills to cure cancer is quackery.Don't see a chiropractor.... It's pure quackery!
