There's no official thing. Buddha is all about just being peaceful, liking life, etc. You can still have possessions, if you want. There's no need to go to a temple. Just appreciate life and be happy. The ones who become hermits or live in the mountains are the ones who are looking for enlightenment. If you are happy with who you are, then that's enlightenment enough. Being a Buddha is an easy religion.

Go to temple. This is a way of life. If you are ignorant of the way you have nothing. There are many ways and paths. I travelled to India. As a starting point I would find a temple to go to in your native tongue. You have a lot to learn. I would recommend learning how to become vegetarian as a first step. If you cannot do this you are in a bad way. Reading sutras and teachings is of no use if you have no teacher. Go to temple.

Pm me. Besides vegetarian restrictions there are other things.
There is no easy path.

Try a website called e-sangha they are really helpful

You do have to become veggi.
But we are allowed to eat halal meat and the soul of the animal has had time to leave the body.
You don't have to go anywhere really, you don't have to go to a temple. But it is considered traditional to spend a month or two with the monks at least once in your life time.To start off it's best for you to search up the eightfold path. At which Buddhist get their eight tailed wheel from. Those are the basic guidelines of the Buddhist ways.
The teachings of the Buddha slim down to those basic guide lines
Don't kill.
Don't steal.
Don't engage in illicit sex.
Don't speak divisively.
Don't speak abusively.
Don't engage in idle chatter.
Don't tell lies.
Abandon greed.
Abandon ill will.
Cultivate right view
Don't take mind altering substances -
That's all you need to get started. But you have to keep researching about the subject. You will have to learn the basics of karma, which is pretty easy. And the theory of recarnation. Well, that's it. Good luck on your journey and pm me if you have any questions
