Xbox elite
Forums › General Discussion › Xbox elite-
I'm thinking of getting one. Do any of you guys have one.
Is it good?
Can you transfer my xbox memory to it if I buy the cable?
Where can I get a good deal on one.
Also I'm planning to get a used one. -
Can't u recover your xbox live account online?
-
Okay sir talks a lot I'll be nice. Get the slim not the elite. There's actually a really cool r2d2 special edition with a 320 gb hard drive out now thats pretty cool. But don't get the old model. The new slim is so much better.
-
If you getting the old model elite upgrading from another old model you should be able to get a transfer kit free off Microsoft but BigBK is right slim is better
-
Oh right...transfer kit was a waste of money...I'm pretty sure you just recover your gsmer tag and then redownload your licenses. Not sure about saved games though...better google that
-
Good for u guys for being nice and giving sound advice. The kid has come a long way on the forums

If you just want to transfer account you need an Internet connection, for all game saves and other game content you need a transfer kit. I think you can transfer that stuff using a USB instead of the kit.

I don't need a lot of memory. Does the slim get red ring of deaths a lot? Also is it really worth the prize I don't need much. Just a good x box that doesn't won't get the red ring of death. I have the 3 ring of death I'm looking into it. Looks like I could repair it.
-
I think if you do get the red ring of death you can fix it and if not take it back to shop they send it away and you get either free Microsoft points or free xbox live! And yer elite is good but slim is better and if you still have saved stuff on your old xbox you can use the same hard drive on the new one and keep your new hard drive as a spare!

Get the slim without a hard drive ($200). You can transfer the hard drive from the old 360. You just have to take the old one apart. Super easy and you don't have to waste time and money for all the transfer crap. I've had a slim for a while now. They're pretty darn good.

I don't think I can afford a slim is a elite good does it get the red ring?
-
Dont know too much about the elites but the price is the same as the slim without the hardrive.
-
If I get a slim or elite can I put my old hard drive in it. ( which one can you do it one of them doesn't have a replaceable hard drive)

I would say get the elite. Because if you want your stuff(savegames etc) you need to take apart the slim hd(or something like that. But with the elite you can get the harddrive transfer kit and transfer everything over(assuming you're getting a new harddrive with it)If I get a slim or elite can I put my old hard drive in it. They both are replaceable. You'd have to take apart the old hard drive to fit in the slim. Took me less than 5 minutes. The hd are exactly the same, the old one just has a big bulky case around it. IMHO I think it would be cheaper to do it this way. Look for a tutorial on you tube.

We upgraded to the slim. We bought the transfer cable but didn't really need it in the end (I think we could use a USB stick to transfer everything not sure). no you can't just take your old hard drive and plug it into the new slim. You can with the elite. You can get a 4gb slim. Red ring is caused by a couple things. The two I've seen were disk drive failure and the heat sink on the processor letting go. The disk drive problem has been fixed, they went with a new manufacturer and the over heating issue has been solved with a new heat sink and a butt load of cooling. it sounds like you're looking for a used xbox. In that case if you can find an elite for a good price go for it...but you could get red ring the next day if you buy used. I say save your money and get a slim. don't get the 4 gig. You'll just wish you got the bigger one in the end. Save your cash and get the best one. It's like 50 bucks more. You can transfer an re download everything from your old hd.
-
Funny cause my hd fit right in. Just pushing this way because it will save you spending 20 bucks on a transfer kit or money on a stick and if you don't need the huge storage, why not?

The slim does have one thing I hate. I have no room in my entertainment center so my xbox sits next to it on the floor. So if my dog sniffs at it he'll turn it off or open the tray because of the touch sensors! Happened like 4 times in the middle of online play lol

Ya I've brushed up against it a few times...but how did you get the old drive to fit? It's a completely different type of connection? Did you take apart the old hd? Any mods necessary? The slim does have one thing I hate. I have no room in my entertainment center so my xbox sits next to it on the floor. Thank you guys for all your suggestions. And thank you for not being asses. One more question for the elite and slim which models are good. Note I don't want anything special just want it to be inexpensive and dont want to get the red ring of death.
-
You have to strip down the old one completely to just the hard drive. The internals are exactly the same. They both have the sata drive ( not sure about the 1st gen 360, the one that was waaay prone to red ringin') no mods necessary. The only thing you have to do is run the slim upright since the old hardrive has no support (housing)it just plugs in, and if it gets bumped it could slip out if place. Sorry it's kind of hard to explain, look on you tube. There are a few good videos in how to do it. Look for the video by scoooorn.

Im pretty sure if you break it and send it in, microsoft will give you a new slim :D

No makes sense...I havnt hauled out the new one yet...no need to.
