I think that's too far discovery channel....

If you have been watching shark week on Discovery, you will have seen commercials for their new show, curiosity. You may have noticed that the first episode is "Did God Create The Universe?" with Stephen Hawking. I think that's too far. I may believe one thing and you another but at least give us a chance to argue our point. We dont get a TV show on Discovery. I'm not arguing about Science vs. Religion but I think it's just a little over the edge. Opinions? Please don't fight about the Religion side. I would complain if we got a show and you didn't. At least we can agree that they are all theories and therefor one isn't any more true than the other.

Atheists gonna be atheists.

Your problem is that you are pitting "us vs them" onto a topic which requires logic and reason. The individual should come to a conclusion and not lump themselves into a group which they feel they need to defend. Watch that show as just yourself and you may learn something. Watch it as part of a group and you will debate evrything you see.

They have the right to post their opinion
-
Having the scientific opinion is fine.
-
Theres plenty of religious programming. There's also scientific programming.
Both gonna broadcast their position. So what's the problem -
And actually there have been relivious shows on discovery. And you guys have dominated history channel for years :)

Dry your eyes and drag yourself into the 21st century.

Religion has had a few thousand years to make their point. Mr Hawkings got a one hour tv show to make his. I'm sure if you asked natives they would say the crusades where over the edge, I'm sure they wished to have a change to argue their points.
-
Its the discovery channel not the history/religion channel (I'm sure there are many televangelists out there), if you don't agree then don't watch!
-
There is room for both.
Remember, 500 years ago we wouldn't be having this conversion... ask Galileo if he would have liked to have a debate about this. -
"did god create the universe?" sounds like it could go either way. I think your just being sensitive and should get over it.
-
"Did God Create The Universe?"
No.
-
What's the second episode?

Religion preaches in the streets all the time.
We show are opinion on tv
What's the problem? -
The show will almost certainly leave an out. They can't say "no." obviously.
But I will.

I'm confused. Are Christians for, or against this show? It sounds like it could go either way. What's there to be so worked up about? Either it's another pro "god might exist" or not.
-
As a Christian, I'm for the show, as well as just about everything discovery, animal planet and the history channel do. I've always looked at the book of genesis as a narrative, not a textbook, and usually end up being disappointed in both sides when they get confused on what they represent. One group measures, collects and analyzes data and facts, the other tries to provide a framework for the unexplainable. I'm not really sure they belong in the same conversation.

No.

By that logic, anytime The CBN or EWTN(religious networks) talks about thier religious beliefs they should also give the scientific perspective.
I'm pretty sure that wouldn't go down to well.

I'd love to believe religion, but you can't get around the laws of physics. I believe there is life after death, but I think we've learned to much about the universe to believe in religion.

Life after death. Sounds like movie after end credits. Fall after Winter. Car after wreck. Science vs Religion. First one to show proof wins.

In a nutshell.
Those who believe in religion will find their proof in religion.
Those who believe in science will find their proof in science.
No matter what proof anyone shows, people have their minds made up, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. To each his (or her) own. I tend to not judge, and respect ones decision to believe what they want.

Ya religion has prime time Sunday morning locked up they are cutting into my cartoon time

I'm a Christian & also look forward to watching the show. I'm not so close-minded to think I know everything. If I know anything, it's that I will never know everything.
