I will buy a car & I want to know what you guys think !
I'm looking for a Honda civic or accord 2001-2004 , Toyota (didn't see much for the price I want to pay) & I saw a ford mustang 2003 . All cars are less than 5000$ ...
Any advise, suggestion or experience would be appreciated ! -
Ford mustang

The civic got the bomb proof 1.6 zetec? I believe that unit has never failed.
Honda is the smart choice, likely be more reliable and cheaper to run. But the ford will look nicer, drive nicer and let's face it, it's a cool car -

So you think that if I go with a civic , I should look for the zetec engine ? Btw it's not v-tec ? -
I have a Toyota with over 180000 miles on it and it is a 98 and Toyota are very reliable... But the mustang is a cool car and is a classic
-
Yes. V-tec.
-
I vote for the Mustang. Cool, easy to maintain, and made in America - you can't go wrong. I'm on my 3rd Mustang now - a 2010 GT Convertible. I've put 30,000 miles on it in just over a year, and haven't had a single problem.
-
Mustangs are ugly, slow, and uncool. If that is what you want feel free to get a mustang. Otherwise get the civic.
-
No real technical advice, but in our collection we have a Honda Civic. 2006, though. I've been driving it lately. Amazing gas milage--twice what the minivan or Mountaineer get. Handles nicely. And I just love it. You gotta like a small car, though. But I'm kinda a small person. CRV's are also great cars. My aunt has one...unknown year but the newer make...probably 2009 but also a great car to look at used. Never have we needed repairs. Amazingly reliable cars! I used to hate Hondas, lol.
-
Come to UK and buy a car- I sell them! Lol but of all the cars we sell, I don't think we have EVER had a Honda back in for warranty so I would say that for low cost motoring, but fun? I'm not too sure, we sold a mustang GT and it made a lovely noise, just didn't handle our country windy roads too well! Needs the big straight roads like you have in the USA! Never did see it back for warranty, but that was 1 mustang compared to 100 Honda! Also, I found the mustang very plastic inside- didn't feel like a quality vehicle which was disappointing...
-
Real are you single? Decent job? If you want reliability go with the civic...if you wanna burn gas and look cool get the stang.
-
Yep it does matter how you are....
When I lived with my folks and didn't have to commute I brought a fun car and enjoyed it.... Now I've got a mortgage, wife and little one on the way and a big commute to work.. So I have an oil burner focus.
Just a tool now -
I'm also a trader ( specialise in Japanese cars ), The Honda engine will never fail you.. Your heart will most likely fail you before that engine does..
-
I had a focus for a few years.. 1.9 diesel.... Had ZERO problems with it. A friend has a 2006 civic 1.9 turbo diesel... Again no problems.
He is switching to a focus this year....
I myself dint do many miles anymore and have no marital commitments so I can warrant having a fun car.... I do want the AMG E-class coupe though!!! -
Exactly have fun, I'm jealous!
-
I still consider myself as single ( I have a girlfriend now ) but I had a torture relation for 9 & 1/2 years , so not really ready to invest myself in another relation. I have 2 kids (9 & 6)& I have them half of the time !I'm almost 29 years old ,have a decent job(but still I don't like it,I want to go back to school soon, while working).
-
All cars are more or less 150k km ( not miles, I'm in Canada ).
But I see that a lot of you guys have good comment for the civic .
I thought of the mustang , cause I feel the 30's coming ... :-( .
I want a sport car !!! LollBut really I think the mustang cost a lot to repair !
-
Mazda mx5? Bet it's cheap to run stateside

Brake ABS pump went recently n Merc wanted £1250 just for a new unit without the fitting!

I guess mpg isn't really an issue in the states as it's still relatively cheap...
£112 ($180) to fill up my car yesterday! -

But probably I should care more about gaz price ! (about a 1,35$/liter) -
My mum has the clk 320 with the AMG kit on it....
I went to MB to check out the prices for the Eclass coupe AMG and with the performance pack it comes in at £77k..... Need a raise! -
Civic dude. Great all around.

Eclass amg is more family sports saloon, none the less a very nice car with superb performance, however running costs are high on any amg, I didn't get my clk amg from new so wasn't so wasn't so expensive, however, still is costly to maintain and really should only be used as an alternative car say for weekends / special occasions, these type of cars are not for everyday use; in my case anyway. My mum has the clk 320 with the AMG kit on it....

Also we are missing the point, as said earlier, I think 4REAL should be looking towards Toyota or honda, as these cars are most reliable and certainly a better choice if they are your main car of use than a mustang.
Having said that, I don't know what mustang are offering at the moment as it was 12yr ago since I went to US & had use of one -
Ya , it's for a everyday use !
Btw mustang test drive right now 😺 -

I'm running a s320, lovely car but probbly the least economical thing iv ever owned 15-20mpg in town, 30-40 on motorway. I'm selling a Porsche Cayenne Turbo if you fancy it, around £15,000, 450hp good for 165 mph, that's if petrol isn't an issue in the states cos it sure is in the UK 😿
