kitchen accidents!

yeah so last night I was taking a quick breather squatting in the kitchen between pick ups. and my idiot co-chef gets the butterfingers and knocks a saucepan of super reduced rabbit demi, er, bunnie sauce... all over me. I got my cooking pants rolled up to my knees because it's spring and my ankles get hot and clausterphobic. anyway, I am burnt. it got me in the face, neck, chest, and leg. I'm ok. not disfigured. only blistered in some places. I've been burnt worse, just not in so many places.
since we got so many industry people up in here, I wanna hear your stories!

I caught a bag of cornchips on fire... They were sitting on my stove... Yes i still have a gas stove... And i accidentally turnEd the wrong knob. And then poof. Some of them popped off the stove and on to the floor... Melting parts if my kitchen floor...

Got a few battlescars, worst one being imprint of frying pan handle burned into my palm. Worst I've seen it was one of my idiot chefs getting drenched in 40 liters of hot oil, we had to cut him out of his whites. Ambulance came quick though, so he was ok, apart from few scars.

Burned myself getting a stuck pizza out of the oven the other day, it ended up breaking into 3 pieces.
Putting a turkey in the fryer (I'm no longer participating in that lol)
-
I put a cup of gummy bears in the microwave than accidently spilt it all over me..it burnt soooo bad..AND IT WOULDNT COME OFF
-
Damn Tek, that sucks. I hope it doesn't hurt too bad. Back in September my boyfriend got 1st & 2nd degree burns from steam & water on 45% of his body. For over a month I had to change his bandages, give him a sponge bath & rewrap him like a mummy twice a day.
Anyway- my kitchen accident story:
about 5 years ago, I was a barista @ a little coffee shop, but we made food too- sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, salads, etc. I had to butter a piece of toast or something & I got a piece of butter (you know, the really small ones- sometimes they're in wax paper & sometimes aluminum) & it was rock hard. So, like an idiot, I put it in the microwave for a few seconds (it was the aluminum kind...). I started a fire in the kitchen... Luckily, I was able to put it out quickly & I was working alone, so I didn't get caught. -
Not really a kitchen incident, but I once had food poisoning off some smoked fish (I reheated it, oops). long story short, I passed out whilst evacuating the bowels and ended with friction burns all over my face after fitting on the bathroom floor. Never been a fan of poached fish since...

Oh geez OUCH - hope you feel better.
my son thought it'd be a great plan to drain ramen with a fork...... Turns out that's a bad plan, had a burn like a glove up the wrist and all 😳

water only boils so hot. that stinks. steam sucks. id prefer hot metal burns myself. then comes reduced fat and hot oil. then adhesive hot starches like oatmeal. then roux. then molten sugar.

Ouch. Hope you are alright, mama tek.
My kitchen accidents always involve crustaceans. Stabbed myself many times shucking oysters and bled all over the kitchen sink.
Last week, I learned that even a crab has been chopped up to many pieces. Its claws can still very possibly cut off my pinky. It was super freaky. -
I once spilt scotch into my mouth.

I was doing an expirement for biology (an im in honors cause im cool) and was microwaving some (supposedly) safe chemicals. A mix of i think two started to foam. Opened the microwave and BAM burnt my beautifal six pack. Burnt right through my washington capitals shirt 😖

I was trying to cut some bread so I held it in my hand whilst sawing away and then it slices awfully deep into my finger.
At first I was like cooooooollllll.
But then I was like OMGWTFBBQ.
True Story.

Oh. I once got my head split open by a doritoes salsa jar in a bag. Was well funny but I needed stitches. Still ate the salsa after too.

Not a kitchen accident. But being a mechanic. I was onced burned by a cat that was over 400degrees. So I feel your pain. Also I watched a guy who liked to "not" lace his shoes. Drip a ball of liquid metal from cutting a exhaust pipe with a torch right into his boot. Lol. He jumped 10 feet high.
