Grades first. Homework than I pod. Do both. If not take it way she will get over it talk to teacher if improve give it back. If not she will run you for the rest of your life and you still won't have a life and she won't respect you. She will know that you give in

It depends on, if her own money was pocket money then you can take the itouch and if she worked and earned the money then you can not really take unless it has a large impact on what she does.

she should break it and stick it back in her daughter's bag. make her think it was her fault. kids lose and break things all the time. yell at her even, a whole lecture on responsibility and how you're not paying for the next one. theyre just kids. they have no rights.

My uncle was pretty rough on my cousin all the time. If my cousin did not clean his room my uncle would put everything laying around in a garbage back and outside for pickup on the following day. if my cousin did not pick up he had to figure out what to wear, how to pay for whatever was no longer there if it was a friends, whatever. It was pretty funny. To this day he thinks his dad is an a-hole. He is but he has a funny way of showing it.Mr. Ikslopot wrote:

Here's how we explained it to our teenager: nothing is yours until you are 18 or over, move out, get a job, pay your own bills, and feed your own face.
Unfortuneately, they will still argue, thinking they know everything.
Damn whippersnappers.

Just out of sheer curiosity, who does a 14yr old get the $ to buy a car or a parrot for a few thousand dollars?MR 357 wrote:
I feel the same.. Lol when I was a teen I'd bring home some things my parents hated. I remember I bought a car when I was 14.. Lol they flipped! I also bought home a parrot they loved him but were pissed I spent a few grand.I would let my son/daughter know that I'm proud that, he/she saved enough to buy such an expensive item. Yet, I would also tell him/her that, I should "know" before they spend money on big ticket items and that, I'll have to hold on to it until grades improve.
As I got older I learnt not to say anything at all or just talk it over
