Yesterday the British bomb disposal squad destroyed a geocach in a controlled explosion after a report from a member of the public that someone had left a dodgy package under a planter, the man who put it there was cautioned by the police. You couldn't make it up....

What exactly is a geocache?

It's like a treasure hunt but on a global scale, there's an app in the store with locations and directions and an old thread to on give you a better description.

I love geocaching. Usually someone stashes a box, and posts directions or lat-lon coordinates online. The box is full of trinkets and a log sheet. When you find it, sign the log, and swap a trinket for one in the box. Eventually, the owner returns to collect the log and trinkets left. Made very popular by portable GPS devices back in the 90's.

It happened at my work a couple months ago. All of downtown Disney was in a panic

my son accidentally left his backpack on the subway. in it was his most favorite stuffed animal and a nintendo ds. we tracked the train back to the station immediately afterwards. later, we were informed the nypd had blown it up. poor Titus the elephant. Perhaps he came back like the velveteen rabbit.

"hunny the cops blew up Titus"
I picture a 6 year old plotting revenge.
