A question for those who listen to Rap.
What do you think about young money throwing rocks at the throne? -
Young money is for the young heads. Hip Hop is over 30 years old. It is well into it's third generation of fans. They don't have the respect and dedication from the earlier era. Back when you had to plug your own demo tape and back when you were labeled a biter for not being original. Some of the cast of young money feel entitled because tv reality shows are gases them up.

I feel like hip hop has needed some fresh air for a very long time. American popular music is in a lull.
Public Enemy, NWA, and groups like that represented something political at one time. The political significance of hip hop is largely gone. Hard to find that now.
Check out Lesego Rampolokeng for political poetry. This cat is from Africa. Hard to find his stuff but when you do it is great. Guy is intelligent. Gift of Gab is great.
I would look in other countries for great hip hop. South America and Latin America have amazing things happening. India has some pretty singular rap.
My two cents.

Idk I prefer this era over all of them. It's just very different and I like it, I like stuff that can hold my attention and still be hot. The only Young Money artists I REALLY like are Nicki Minaj, Corey Gunz, & Porcelain Black (she's new).
I don't understand "Young Money throwing rocks at the throne"....what throne?

YMCMB has put out a gang of subliminal records throwing shots at Jay-Z, Kanye West, And Beyonce of all people.
That little dread loc rat is a puppet for that nasty old man he's calling his father. He let that old bastard put a bunch of shit in his head as if they are all equals. No dice. As for the state of hip hop... I happen to like the music that relates to or has related to my life personally. These little ass kids think because they say "retro" and wear a snap back they know it all. Damn, now I sound like an old man. -

I think people in general get too carried away with "subliminals", not everything someone says is about someone. Lil Wayne doesn't appeal to me. Birdman is idk, he just seems very awkward lol.
I listen to what I like, I never criticize an artist for not being what I want to hear. People expect everyone to be a Lauryn Hill mixed with preacher and a motivational speaker, it's not realistic for a young artist. Everything doesn't have to be so serious but that's just me, I'm in the under-20 crowd.

The only joints I cop nowadays are when the hold heads come back and drop something. KRS once said hip-hop is a way of life. Who really lives the young money lifestyle? MTV execs. Here is a question for the new generation ( under 20). Name the five elements of hip hop. Clue, it's not earth, wind, or fire.
-
In this case the subliminal is real. Lil rat + Drake claim to have come up with the concept "Watch the throne" first. So in turn they throw little sneak shots. Drake doesn't know any better, hes just wearing that battery they gave him. But the rest of them know damn well what their doing. (Trying)

2 DJing
3 Breakin (as in dancing)
4 Graffitti

Rivalry has also played an important role in Hip-Hop.
You just have to know a loss when you've lost.
Baby started this from the wings and he the worst equipped to deal with it. -
I'm not a fan of YMCMB. I see the music they do and the fans they do it for which isn't me. I do know of a lot of "new" artists that I like though. I think you just have to look in the right places to find the Hip-Hop you like. There's so much of it out there now to pick and choose from.

Dripping in swagger juice, drinkin tea and eating scones....hahaha!!! 😹

I have a very narrow spectrum of things I listen to. I will religiously listen to Eminem, I'm just getting into 2pac and Immortal Technique and sometimes a small bit of Lil Wayne and Dr Dre. I know, tonne of mainstream artists, I just don't know any others apart from Immortal Technique.
-
That Westwood is a little sideliner as well. He's a tea bagger, and that juice aint swagger.

young money lack pretty much everything that was beautiful about the real hip hop from back then. And this is coming from a kid who is part of this new crappy generation. If only I was born 10 or 20 years earlier...then I could I have really felt and lived through the resl greats careers as they blossomed
