Anti-Virus software?

I use Kaspersky 2011 the full suit! I think its pretty good and dont slows my pc(q6600@3,6ghz, 8gb DDR3-1600, AMD 6970 2GB) I never had any problem for now 4 years! And its very cheap, 15€ a year!(4place edition 2 years = 60€)
And the kasperky guys have the fastest solution against new viruses ( 17min reaction time for the most, i belive(!))
Dont use a free one! -
EmperorK misses the point entirely.
It's not the job of the OS to be secure. Any OS that lets users on it is as vulnerable as the user is stupid.
Windows is less secure by design, with patches and work-arounds hammered on it to survive the deluge of successful exploits. Cached credentials? WTF??
Mac is as secure as the user can make it. If the user does their job right OSX is by design capable of better security than Windows, although by default, it's not entirely better.
Linux distributions by default are typically tight. Only if the user does stupid things can it be compromised.
I eat penetration testers for lunch as part of my job. If I set up the senario, they go home packing. I've beat Booz Allen, cisco, Juniper, NCIRT and our whole "security" team against their constant attacks of my Linux servers and Mac Desktops. They aren't geniuses. They are script kiddies.
PEOPLE are insecure.

Also... Macs are exploited faster because the windows boxes are busy thrashing swap to disk and can't keep up.
Nyaaaa! 😜

I see your point brown, but think of the everyday user. People buy Macs and expect them to be secure tanks right out of the box. So they let their guard down about hackers.Also... Macs are exploited faster because the windows boxes are busy thrashing swap to disk and can't keep up.

You might be one impossibly good coder. But I'll warn you this. My friend has worked for some very high level and secretive companies(and governments) that have a lot to lose. I know many pentesters are script kiddies. But this guy could probably wipe the floor with you. He focuses his time on making sure that who he works for gets both a migraine and a new custom built protection suite.
If anybody is interested, the computers in question used for the test were two Toshiba satellite computers and two MacBook pros. The Toshiba comps had the new i5 processor. -
