Apparently it was a 19 year old Brit. I wonder what kind of punishment he is looking at if he gets convicted
-
I bet he gets a job out of it regardless of the punishment.

So will the weak Uk gov allow him to be extradited?

Was he responsible for the sony attacks? I haven't seen anything stating he was. Just that he was the part of Lulzsec a hacker group similar to Anonymous.
-
He was identified and all his details published on anonopps web site over a month ago, FBI n SY should check the Internet more often, save them a packet in investigation costs.
-
Yeah true :)
-
If they put him behind bars that would be a wast Of talent

While it does happen that "hackers" (and this is the wrong term really) turn into legit security analysts on occasion, I'm not sure it is always as productive as it sounds at first. It seems like today's crackers don't have nearly the skills of the more notable and earlier criminals who made similar transitions. Frank Abignale (a social engineer with few equals -- a trait he shares with several well-known computer/network crackers) had some first-rate skills and plenty of first-hand knowledge to pass on -- but the current generation of script-kiddies rarely have a similar depth of knowledge in their field.
It seems a growing trend among crackers that they use tools or tool kits created by other more competent individuals who actually have some real talent. Sometimes these guys are actually using exploit code created by security researchers! ;)

You got your story wrong. He wasn't involved in the psn attacks. According to lulzsec he isnt even a main member of the group and they didn't hack the psn network.

A British teenager suspected of being a mastermind behind notorious international computer hacking group LulzSec has been arrested.
The arrest of the 19-year-old - named locally as Ryan Cleary - comes just days after the group claimed it brought down the US Central Intelligence Agency's website. The alleged hack on CIA.gov occurred on the same day Lulz Security opened a telephone request line so its fans could suggest potential targets.
On Twitter, the group wrote: "Tango down - CIA.gov - for the lulz".
