What should be done about highly populated areas?
Forums › General Discussion › What should be done about highly populated areas?-
Let me explain. I had a friend who I wanted to play the game, but my friend was unable to set down any turf because their build radius was completely filled with turfs. Luckily I was able to talk to the capo, who turned out to be a cool guy, and we were able to knock down some inactive turfs. But what about people who don't have friends already on the game, and dont know to ask there capo for help. They might see his mob and be intimidated. I've heard people on here tell new people with this very problem that they should move to a different location where there able to plant. Doable for iPhone users, a real pain in the a** for those on iPod touch. And besides, is the average new person who downloaded this game at 1am, really going to hop out of bed and drive down to mc donalds, just so they can plant a turf in a game they dont even understand yet? Sorry for my longwinded rant, I guess my question is, what do we do in this situation, or what should be done?

Once some good suggestions arise, I'll move this to suggestion forum. Only reason I have it posted here is it's a question I want the whole comunitys opinion on.
TL;DR big city, no space, what do?

What about all the new turfwars players that can't afford a used iPod touch, and have to bum rides to the apple store to use their account on the demos?
Surely something should be done for these unfortunate souls. Perhaps a turf age limit around apple stores, so they can get started?
I mean, otherwise, these people will just quit hitching all the way to the apple store if every week there is still no room to plant anything. Why would they bother?
Dammit, something should be done.

Perhaps your first turf should have larger plant radius, extending beyond overcrowded areas.

:-/ What are you going on about? I'm not speaking completely outlandish hypotheticals. You can plant sometimes, as long as your steer clear from the centre of turfs then you can sometimes lay turf, it's bait trail and error but it can be done, I've done it plenty of times

Darwin comes to mind here. If your friend really wanted to play the game, he would have found a way (and it looks like he did).

I'll rephrase.
If they are worthwhile players that would really want to play, the will probably find the resources necessary to play the game.
I don't think the game should adjust for the hardships of those that won't utilize GPS (or even skyhook if they are too cheap to have GPS) to play a GPS game.

I think that you should be able to build as close to another turf as you want. This soul solve a lot of issues

I am sure we have lost a lot of potential players just because the app crashes in dense areas, even if there was room to build. More so on iPad. Last time I placed a turf in downtown Mnpls it took me 10 restarts of TW. Since that time beim and I have torn down quite a few turfs in Mnpls so might not be so bad, but the first time impression on a gamer of an app that crashes a lot isn't good. Newest version crashes also.

I didn't love this game the second I started playing. It took a little while to grow on me. If I was unable to plant turf at the start I wouldn't continue. Why play a game when it doesn't let you play it from day one?I'll rephrase.

Ok.... So glad I found this because I have been unable to do this and was going to quit. It seems like a good game so I have been adding people and getting in small fights.... Don't really get the game yet, but looks like fun.... I cannot plant turf in my area....way to crowded

The new map ought to be of some assistance, being that it shows the non-build zones in pinkish-red. But overall, this is a problem that grows every day, perhaps shrinking the turf exclusion zones would solve the problems for a good amount of time.

I started playing in a crowded area. I could plant turf, but it was a bit pointless because as soon as my turf reached full influence the mobster to whom I was paying protection would cap it. A player advised me to move to a quieter area and mob up - which worked OK.
