My great-grandparents were Irish, came over during the potato famine. I barely knew them though & none of my family speaks Irish. I'm too old to enjoy getting drunk anymore, not to mention I can't because of my health.

I can say failte and slainte and count to ten in Irish. I bought a bunch of books once but it was so hard to figure out.
