In April, I wrote and produced a film for 48 Hour Film contest in Dallas. You get 2 days to write, shoot and edit a short film. It's pretty crazy.

Of course, to keep people from cheating, they require you include certain elements. Once we drew those, we set out to make a dark comedy about a birthday gift.

It won awards for best directing and sound design.

That was pretty cool. What elements did the require from you to prevent cheating?

Thanks for the kind words guys!

To prevent cheating:

1st- we drew genres out of a hat. Western, Horror, Comedy, etc. This year was the contest's 10 anniversary, so we got anniversary/birthday.

2nd- we had to include a waiter, a ball and the line "when do you need it?".

This is competition is in almost 100 cities all summer. If you ever wanted to make a film, check them out.

I guess the commuter train in the background during the walking scene was not a coincidence. Nicely done.
