First step to a big bike. So excited!
I'll be joining the 1% of lady bikers!
Who else rides? Any tips for a newbie?

I ride ladies

I ride, got myself a YZF-R1. What bike are you looking to get, btw you cannot fail a CBT unless u fall off or hit a car etc, it's a lesson not a test 😋

Well done u, best advise I can give(and reason I gave up bikes) is don't ever forget it not you it's the other drivers that are dangerous to bikers, most unless have bikes don't appreciate or give appropriate care and attention to bikers, just always remember that everytime u get on ur bike and that best advice I can give and u prob can get,u in the uk? Even more reason to be cAreful

To start I'll get a motocross 125cc (4 stroke, so no horrible noise) and one day... One day I'll have a ducati monster. I love them!

I had a bandit, and a 600 fireblade, also rode step dads zzr 1100 , that was a beast he had it tinkered with used to reach 212mph....was too big for me tho, little legs lol, ad also a heavy bike I was more at home with fireblade,

I had a 1986 Honda CB650 back around 96 or 97. I rode for about a year... I stopped because I knew I drank too much and was going to kill myself. Always loved bikes though.

Keep engaged all the time, like krazi says, the danger comes from the other drivers. When on the highway, I try to pass cars all the time by going faster. It keeps me focus and limits the danger to car ahead of me. Keep going through your mirrors, make eye contact.

I have a 1974 Peugeot fixed gear bicycle. I'm pretty sure this makes me a hipster with zero badass status.

Harley, full dresser

Are you kidding? Those are great, my commute bike is an early eighties Miyata frame that I turned into a fixie but I wish It was a Peugeot. Do you ride much in the city?I have a 1974 Peugeot fixed gear bicycle. I'm pretty sure this makes me a hipster with zero badass status.

Ride defensivly at all times. Try to make eye contact with car drivers at junctions so you know they have seen you. Remember where the sun is, a bike coming out of a low summer sun is hard to see for some car drivers it seems. And ride defensivly, ride defensivly, and lastly, ride defensivly.

And if your in blighty, watch out for potholes, crappy road repairs, manholes right where you want to be, and that god awful tarmac and chippings they love to ruin our roads with, if you hit a road thats just been resurfaced with that, find a diversion asap. Gotta love british roads lol 👍. Mostly though, have fun 😺. Welcome to the world of two wheels

Makuni n mimosa definitely filled in all the missing pieces,As mimosa said speed can be ur friend on a bike, those mopeds are more dangerous as dnt have the umph to get u out of dickheads way,and Makuni said about the sun keep in mind where is,this is invaluable, and also eye contact yep yep yep, I think everyone has basically given u 30+ years of expeience if u abode by those rules, u get one chance on a bike, hope u stay safe

I have a Honda Shadow 750cc. First bike I ever rode. It is a great bike. Like a few others have said, don't ever forget you are not protected. And NEVER DRINK AND RIDE! I worked in an ER. 99% of the bikers that wrecked were hit by someone else. The rest were drunk. Its a good lesson to remember.

Shame you are in the UK I know someone in Southern California is selling a Ducati.

Remember the cbt is training not a test, so don't be nervous, just relax and listen to what the instructor tells you. I did my full test a while ago, now on a Harley. Have you done your theory test?

I used to ride in NYC all the time. I have another conversion on a shitty Ross mountain frame, that one has a front brake. The Peugeot is completely naked, no grips, no nothing. aero rims.🐱 mama tek wrote:

but now I'm in the mountains half the time. I can see the use in things like gears. maybe. I'd also be happy with a Segway.
