  It happens on the old ones only when overheated. It takes about 8+ hours of play in order to happen. The new one has an extra fan I believe so It doesn't happen.

  It's because some person hacked psn on his own ps3. So there just updating the security so it doesn't happen again should be down me tomorrow or wed.

  Im the same with not getting involved in xbox vs ps3 fights because it all ends in angry trolls misspelling words and a horrible use of the english language. Anyway, I just wanted to point out that the xbox 360's failure rate is at 54.2% which is way higher than the ps3s 10%. So if your one of the less than 50% who never had a problem with your xbox 360, get off your high horse and see the greater picture. Not saying that ether one is better, but the xbox clearly has had more issues throughout the years vs the ps3. The network getting shutdown due to hackers has nothing to do with how good the network is, it's more on who the hackers are targeting. Everything in the world (for the most part) is hackable with enough people, time, and effort.
