I like that he covered it but the nails version with all the original lyrics is better.

I got news for nine inch nails johnny cash's version of hurt is better now nin's is still better than sevendust or live but not the man in black
-
Cash had his day...it's over...same might be said about nails...but nails has made several epic albums in my life time...can't say the same for cash...nails was by far the best stage show I've ever seen...definatly can't say that about mr. Cash.

Ok I'm a small fan of nin but fail to see any of their work as epic other than maybe the pretty hate machine cash held it down for 50 plus years that's something and I doubt nin will be able to say that one day now I've never seen them live so I can't commet on that

Listen to the fragile and then watch the
DVD of the tour...nails has influenced tonnnnnnns of music...did you grow up under a rock? Of course I'm kidding around with you because I don't think you're taking offense to what I say...but downward spiral was amazing in it's time broken was amazing in it's time prettyhate was epic in its time fragile was amazing (still is). Nails is huge where I come from. Growing up in the nineties they were one of the biggest bands EVER. That's a fact sir. :p -
I grew up in the Nintys as well with them and I was huge on them in high school and yes they have ifl a lot of bands I'm much bigger on Alice in chains though timeless band their 14 year no cd then you release one of the best

I know its a cover. Dosnt stop it being a very good song though. I have the NIN version to, but the fact the cash version was recorded so close to his death is abit of a killer IMHO. I did see a good clip on utube of hurt live by NINGustav Adolph wrote:

Just checking...the only song mentioned in the thread about cash being awesome was not a cash song so I just felt the need to open my big mouth. I do like Johnny alot...he's that guy that bridges the age divide for some reason. I listen to him with my tramps drinking scotch on the rocks. I listen to him in foreign ports with the old salts. I listen to him because he covers one of my favorite bands from my "teenage angst" years. He's cool.BigBK wrote:

Hehe. The man comes around is an album of covers, its the songs he wanted to record befor he died. Hard to mention a song from it without it being someone elses 😺👍
-
Ahhhh I did not realize it was all covers...makes sense.

Johnny Cash dead and in the ground is still better than 95% of the utter terrible-ass shit that's being released now.
-
Whooooaaaaa awesome auto correct...I re read my previous post...where I said I listen to him with my "tramps" was supposed to read "gramps" as in grandpa...drastically changes the essence of the moment...lol tramps n scotch n Johnny cash. Tis a wonderful life.
