Disclaimer: if ur bored of my PC build journey.. Tough shit, I don't care. Anyway. It's been active 2 days now. Here's the low down.

I have a 3.3ghz 6 core. It has turbo boost which can push 3 cores to 3.7 when running single thread applications. I done a tiny 200mhz OC to 3.5 on all cores today, been running 6 hours with steam downloading 4 games. Also, prime95 running a very minor stress test. All passing, got turbo boost disabled so all cores peaking at 3.5. I invested in a good cooling system and from the first boot I knew it was money well spent. Idle my CPU temp was 37 degrees. Right now, under full core stress at 3.5 my CPU temp is 33 degrees, 15% CPU usage and 1.2gb memory usage. This system has potential (so I've read to push to 4.5 on all cores). I think that's realistic, but I need to learn lots and lots on voltage and multiplyer configs. 4.5ghz 6 core...my god. It's like a Ferrari engine in a damn Morris minor!!!!! Anyone have OC experience...shoot!

How much ram do you have packed into this? I can only imagine the kindof cooling system youd need to this.

I've got 4gb ddr3 1333mhz oc to 1600mhz. The cooling system wasn't that expensive, £60. I went with liquid cooling.

If you want an OC how to, grab the current issue of Custom PC magazine. Goes through the whole lot, which is fine for a newbie over-clocker.

There are websites dedicated to this topic, so get searching and find the one you like the format of.

Btw .. What did you use for cooling? Heatsink? Thermal interface? I'm interested ... Just a little 😉

Oh sweet I'll have to grab a copy. Yh been reading up loads and watching videos. I don't wanna be hasty. Using a silver thermal compound and a corsair H50. Also got the 200mm fan directly above heat sink so practically no internal heat emission.

I just ran mw2 and system kept hanging. Reverted back to stock. 🙍

The system sounds good mate.....but for running mw2 it's a bit of an overkill and I wouldnt of thought mw2 would cause ur system to hang..... what gpu you got?.....what's the main use for ur new pc gaming, video editing etc?
Custom pc magazine and YouTube is the way to go 👍

what Mhz is your ram & board limited to?

Usually, drop FSB, iuncrease multi, run Prime for a few hours. When you get the highest Multi, drop it low then increase FSB gradually using prime until you get the highest..
I thought you rram was 1600mhz?
Just get a 10% oc. you wont need it.
more than that wont make much difference to gaming & graphics anyway

Ram is running at 1600 on oc (gigabyte claim 2000 on oc but multiplyer doesn't allow). Gpu is integrated for now. 700mhz, ddr3128mb + ddr3 512mb system, 640mb combined. As soon as I reversed oc on CPU mw2 worked like a charm, it was also causing mafia 2 to crash, again had it going for few hours now no probs. I will get a new gpu eventually and run them together.

All rounder PC. When I'm running adobe and corel together for few hours daily it can get pretty intensive. I won't need oc, this is just experience for me.

Thanks. I know I can be a bit aggro at times, and I often support supposed trolls (mot notably CH; everytime he's called a troll I see nothing bad on his part until after the accusation), but I really don't like hate for the sake of hating. I at least try and make reasons for my accusations whenever I get mean. Trolls are illogical; I sometimes follow logic too strictly, but for the most part, I try to be reasonable. And I do talk a little too much (I know that I didn't need to say ALL of this...), but I'm still learning.
