I've just started playing guitar (electric) I would appreciate tips from pro's and a helping hand on what pieces to start off playing, plz bear in mind I do have past experience on acoustic so I'm not a complete beginner.

Hmm go learn some music theory. I know it's not the most obvious or most interesting option but it is very useful for songwriting and adding harmonies. Learn what you can about harmonization. Perhaps you're already familiar with it but I'd highly recommend it.
And eh someone else here can tell you about other stuff😜 -
Thx I'll go look into harmonization...(?)

Yeah you might have to start pretty far back depending on what you know about music theory. What do you know?
-
Do you mean that you want to pick up playing Lead guitar versus the chords you were playing previously?
-
Forget the theory, get some tab books of your favorite artists and play away! ( then learn some scales pentatonic etc. Makes learning fun)

no I know names and scales, but that's on keyboard, I'm not sure how it corresponds to guitar...El Borges wrote:

If you just want to have fun with, find fun guitar tabs and play around with your sound/effects to get a feel for what you like. If you want to be improvisational, then know how to do pentatonic, blues, etc scales in any key.

That one is too easy fir me...
-
To clarify, I'm looking for TABs not chords...
-
Go for purple haze - jimi Hendrix. Easy enough and the tabs are everywhere on the Internet! 🎸

Hysteria by muse. Better on bass but still good on guitar.

I play acoustic mainly, but they're harder to play than electric. I always learned by ear, but poke around those tab websites. I hav always been partial to playing pearl jam songs tho.

Tabcrawler.com is a good site with tabs and tips, but you should get a few one to one lessons with a pro to learn how to keep discipline and balance between exercises and free playing.

It's hard to find relaible tab websites, different sites are better at different styles, my current fav is ultimateguitar.com also in my current situation I can't afford 1on1
-
Spent a lot recently, (guitar, and I've started getting more expensive tastes...)
-
It's well worth it, belive me. You have to learn how to learn ;-) that also depends on what do you want to achieve. If you wanna play handfull of gigs on your local club circut, you may as well get the book or copy your fav songs by ear.

I just want some skill to show off a little, but so it can be a nice foundation for pro playing if I wants that career option...
