That's exactly what it is. I'm looking out my mates flat window looking over the main street. There is a parade going on, involving... Wait for it.. Tractors with signs advertising the local shops 😒 at least we het the day off!

St. Patrick is Ireland's patron saint. He went over there and converrted many celts to christianity. It is said that he ridded Ireland of all the snakes. But this could just be a metaphor referring to him helping to stamp out panganism (sp?) in the country :)

YOU IDIOTS! St Patricks day is to celebrate St Patrick, who was a priest who helped heal and do good. He was like St Valentine, who was a very catholic man who was celebrated in I think Wales. St Patrick would help give clovers to this who were sick, so he remembered who to heal. Therefor, when sick, take a clover and hold it with you until you are better for luck in fighting the ailment. A four leaf clover means you are blessed. Havent you ever kissed the lucky stone in Irland?

Saint Patrick is also the patron saint of Nigeria and Montserrat.
The Blarney stone that all tourists kiss in Cork is actually not the right stone to kiss, the correct stone is located nearby 😨

Most of us are 1/8 Irish. Way to many Irish came here to stay on the east coast and not spread their seed across the county. Im more Scottish than Irish myself. But my uncle looks like a damn leprechaun, so I celebrate with a 🍺 or 🍻 every year.
