Just bought a samsung LED 32 inch for my bedroom, awesome picture and it's only just over an inch thick, I think it's a thousand times better than my LCD downstairs, wot do yous think❕❕

Yeah led tv's you can notice the difference,...anyone still buy plasmas? I don't see any benefit now with a plasma over LCD? Used to e but LCD so good now that I'm not quite sure why thy would still produce plasma?
-
How much did ya pay? If Dnt mind mr asking? A mid range sanding LCD 32inch is around 400-600 depending on deals, tv have come right down recently,u need upnp dnla upla now,Bluetooth wifi all on the tv and DVD player nowadays,

Plasma are still very sweet if it's a darker room.
-
Plasma still has the edge, it's a lot cheaper and there is no problem with restricted viewing angle, just bought a 50 inch full hd LG plasma and it's fantastic.
-
42 inch LG plasma, best telly ever had! 32 inch Samsung LCD in bedroom is still good at 5 years old

Samsung LED is best. V green energy consumption & built in DLNA support for wide variety of media formats (DivX, MKVs, etc) .. Still get some ghostly edges in certain scenarios, but much better than plain LCD. Mines hung on the wall using the Samsung Kevlar mount, so protrudes less than an inch from the actual wall surface.
Samsung are also intuitive enough to have all the input/output ports parallel with the creen, rather than perpendicular (sticks out), to minimize the profile.
I'd consider plasma screens if they were as thin as my LED, but they are all "fat" as far as I have discovered.

I'm in the digitial signage industry.
It's basically just commercial flat screen monitors with computers attached. We debated internally for ages LCD Vs plasma.
And at the end of the day the LCD kinda took over the industry and plasma kinda faded into the background, then as soon as that happeed LED came out and is now replacing LCD -

Sometimes it's difficult to make a decision on tv type, where will it end?we are always playing catchup with technology, 3d tv is the latest and soon their will be 3d without the restricting glasses, how long before holograms will be the norm?Ultraviolet wrote:

Yo K Y Love u bro 😽😻😽😻

The good ol LCD last much longer then led and as long as it's big enough, if it can last then its good for me

Ive got a 36" sharp led, internal components are actually samsung though. Fantasic bit of tv, 1080p with blu-ray is eye-popping. Like fluke mentioned, mines got all that, the only thing I dislike is no network interface on my version, you have to to 1 model higher to 42" which was the quattron and £200 more. I'm building a new PC soon and debated a new monitor..touchscreen..to hell with it, I'll just hook it up to the tv via hdmi!

I forgot to mention.. These tvs are not FULL LED, they are led back lit LCD panels. They falsely advertise as many don't realise the difference!

Has the 55" led all I can say is WOW

LED TV technology can be back-lit or edge-lit. Most modern displays use edge-lit as it saves space (to get the super thin TVs) but that means the backlighting lights up a patch rather than a single pixel. Back-lighting originally lit up a single pixel, so you had the dynamic range of contrast down to a fine granular level, like plasmas, but without the energy cost or the -tri-pixel matrix. The edge-lit versions light up small patches, so you may not get as fine detail, but it is better than LCD, and more energy efficient than plasmas or the original backlit LED.
Plasmas handle fast changing edges of contrast better than LCD/LED TVs. Basically, it is a trade-off around the package size, energy efficiency and then features, that you pay for.
My electricity costs have plummeted since getting the LED, as we had the large TV on almost constantly throughout the day.

👆 summed it up. And I meant edge lit not back lit in my post! Should sleep more. Back lit also give a much deeper black meaning more vibrancy. But they are pricy.

Plasma will burn if you are using a ps3 or xbox etc. Therefore I would never buy one. I opted for a 46" Samsung LCD, it great compard to my old 27" box.Plasma still has the edge, it's a lot cheaper and there is no problem with restricted viewing angle, just bought a 50 inch full hd LG plasma and it's fantastic.

Maybe the older plasma tv's may have been susceptible to screen burn but newer ones are ok, I know people who have used the on Xbox for 4 years and no problem.Ultraviolet wrote:

Panasonic have held the title for best plasma displays for a long time now & still innovating in there (they are now getting thinner like the LED LCD TVs). Main reason I picked Samsung was because of the built in media player - it was easy to use & had (at the time) best support for all the media formats I had and intended to use. Saying that, Panasonic have some sets with a built in PVR that has built in DRM (so can only play on the set the media was recorded on).I had previously been a Sony-phile, but they seem to have messed up their whole strategy and are not delivering strong products to market, while trading on the historical strength of their brand.
Overall, I felt it best to keep the display best of breed LED (Samsung) and the media streaming & recording on my media server.

👆👆👆👆 Agreed, I think the samsung is the best allrounder for picture, sound, value, media, they seem to do it all fairly well, saying that my 42" LG downstairs runs it extremely close.👍
