Folders for a start, makes finding programs so much easier. Can also have multiple home screens and switch using gestures on track pad! Will tell more when I find them.

Im still on 10.5 and I thought spaces was similar to that idea...it's great if you multitask a ton. Though I'm actually starting to lean towards Ubuntu 10.10 ever since Iv been using it on my school laptop via a 4gig flash drive.Folders for a start, makes finding programs so much easier. Ubuntu is good for computers with a small processor I would never use it on MacBook Pro. It just doesn't do what I want!👊TheBoss👊™ wrote:

10.10 runs from the flash? Great. I know that you can di that with Linux but do you get the same functionality as the full thing? Or windows/apple os?Iggy 🌊 wrote:

An update on my findings so far, with OSX Lion there are a few of the iOS iPad 4.2 features, you can now use what's called launch pad which is like the iPad home screen, you can arrange app and folders to be able to find them much easier..
For people with multiply macs in here house if you want to share a file you can now use a feature called AirDrop. You drop the file into the folder an anyone on your network can access it!There is a nice new mail client much like the iPad version. And if anybody ever used it before well spaces is now so much better to use, you can use guesture controls to switch between windows, its nice and smooth when switching between pages!
There are a few extra guesture controls on the track pad to launch in and out of various things!
If you want to give it a try pm me and I'll send you the link for it!

I used a windows application called Pendrivelinux to install Linux with a 3gig partion to my 4gig flash drive. I downloaded the iso file from linux's website and then I formated the drive to fat32. Then you just run the program. Ubuntu 10.10 runs very well on my hp 2730p elitebook with a 1.8ghz core 2 duo and 2gigs of RAM. Very smooth. All you have to do is plug in the flashdrive (have the computer off) and then when you boot it up, press f9 (though some computer are different) and pick boot from USB. Also, some bios won't let you boot from USB drives. All depends. Also, I have been able to get almost everything I need (still trying to get java working) but flash is working, and there's an application called wine that allows you to run windows applications. -
And there's the basic applications that allow word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint like slideshows pre-installed. Oh and there's a market that is similar to a Mac app store with games, system tools, and such. Most of them are freeware from what Iv experienced. And I have google chrome and opera running on it (though it comes with firefox 3.6 preinstalled too)
