no you can't. Brussels is sleepy comparatively. NYC. the global Capitol.

I'm confused. Are you looking for what peoples nationalities are? Or the stereotypes of those nationalities? So we have many nationalities on here, the most chatty forumwise seem to be American and British, but who else is here?
My second point is what is your perception of your fellow turfers
I'm Ukrainian, British, German, Irish, Belgian, Turkish, Welsh and was born in Canada.
Just curious what other people perceive of people they talk to over the net -
Hey not all Brits have bad teeth!! I'm Brit and I got nice teeth ☺ but most of us don't because going to the dentist costs a bomb over here 😞

NYC is way more populous active and art filled and influential than Brussels for example -

And what I meant was the title of the thread is stereotypes, but then you ask what countries people are from, and how we perceive one another but that's not really about stereotypes.
Like I perceive mr. Inksplot to be intelligent. But that has nothing to do with stereotypes or nationalities. -
Canada. Surely that makes you Canadian?

You are canadian, you may not have actually met any Australians in real life, so what do you percive them to be like? What is your stereotypical image? For example?
I'm not interested in lighting up a debate about ethnic roots that likely to be too hot!
Hope that clears up my original question? -
Ah gotcha. Ya no I don't want a debate either. I was actually just confused to what types of answers you were looking for thats why I said what my entire ethnic background was. Australians that I've met are kinda like canadians but a little crazier and party slightly harder. Fun people.

Im blonde welsh and thin :) a few stereotypes there methinks

I perceive general Australians to be happy go lucky outdoors adventurous types, ameriams I see as,sorta ruthless and business, and as much as stereotypically obese I also see the other side of USA that is fitness obsessed! New Zealand I see like Switzerland, neutral conservationist and harmony comes to mind with them nations,Britain yes bad teeth lol,but I see them as once innovators etc and industry now I see uk as USA little bro trying to keep up and not piss older bro off
-
Canadiens I see as in part like USA in some inner cities, but I put them more like a winte Australia if makes sense, alot of rural and national parks conservation etc, hunting comes to mind, also slot take Mick out the canadiens (USA ,eh?) lol but more or less all the canadiens I have met are very nice people, they seem to look from more than just ther perspective on the world, USA stereotypically see things from their point if view and a do Britain I feel!(not so much Talmud bout the individual people ,but on a whole) and I do find ironic that Australia is made up of uk criminals from years back, yet I can't go live in Australia (even though got uk passport) because of criminal record!! Lol, Also like bermuda was/is British colony a bermudan can apply for uk passport and get 1,but I can't apply for bermudan stays or een work permit?

So Americans, canadians, Irish, British and australians, anyone else?
-
I met 2 canadians on holiday in Greece went on and on about how canadians don't have a stick up their ass like their American cousins, and were traveling greece accepting the local culture for what it is etc, then saw them 2 hours later complaining because their room was still not ready. And I mean really going for it, shouting etc... Later that day we were on a bus and he was arguing that he had asked for a return ticket on the way to Ioa, the conductor was informing him returns didn't exist. He chose to be kicked of the bus than pay €0.50.
Dudes your in Greece! remove stick from ass at customs!

As far as Americans , they have all seemed lovely if a little clueless on my travels. However I've only met 3 young chaps that have not been overweight. (and this is the backpackers!)
I met a few Chinese they seem to be the most overly organised people in the world. Doesn't do you alot of favours when your ferry is 12 hours late and youve missed 3 connections though. Bloodly lovely people though.

I once called Patrick Stewart british in front of a scot, he was ticked. Lol, just seems weird to say UK-ish just to save face!
-
Question I can't tell the difference between a Canadian and an American (well apart from the whole trigger happy thing) is it true that Canada is the country ammerica wants to be ?
-
Funniest thing I ever heard was on holiday in the US. a guide that was taking us round Randolph Hearst's place told us that he also had property in Wales, England. After quietly laughing to myself, I took a moment to tell them that they are separate countries and it was a good thing that there weren't any Welsh people on the tour. Lol

Singapore seems quite active. INDIANS REPRESENT!

there is debate on the origin of using pom or pommie/pommy as a derogatory way to refer to the english.
maybe someone from oz or nz can enlighten us.

Is yank appropriate for all Americans?
-
krissharm wrote:
Nah Kriss. It's not appropriate to call all Americans, "Yanks". Some like Yank or Reb. However anyone from California is called a "Quack" or "Azz crack". You can use either name. They view it as a compliment. Hope that helped. ✌Is yank appropriate for all Americans?
-
krissharm wrote:
Lmao! Very few people here even use that term at all. The terms Yankies & Rebels went out with the civil war in the 1800's. If anyone does use the term Yank, they are referring to people from the northeast. Just call us Americans, if you must lump us all together. Is yank appropriate for all Americans?

Funny. I've never perceived my fellow TWers as particular nationalities/stereotypes at all though I know where some of them live. I have more of a mental image of what they look like as individuals in mind. Totally from my imagination. Same as I do when I read a novel or something. Facial features, mannerisms, etc. There are a handful I've actually met in person or seen pics of--I was WAY off. I've always wondered if the ones who've seen me were way off about me, too. Except Addi. I was pretty damned close there. Weird.
