And what is better?

True it is science fiction but so was cell phones at one point. And television. Our grandparents probably would never have imagined ipads back in the day but now they are here. Computers that can fit on the eye of an ant sounds insane but in reality it's not. The contacts may not do all those things by themselves. But merely receive data from other components that are connected elsewhere to the body. If we can break down material on the atomic level and rebuild it in a different place then contact lenses that have a display built in isn't that far fetched.

I do not fully understand it as I am not a mechanical/electrical/nano tech engineer. But yes essentially it is a perpetual motion machine. The contract he has been offered could potentially be worth millions. And that is most likely why people have not heard of it. It is worth to much money. It can't be a true "perpetual" motion machine because over time the material will eventually break down from wear and tear, that is inevitable, but if it didn't break down(impossible) then it would be a true perpetual motion machine. A self powered device that creates it's own energy and creates more energy then it actually consumes. He is not the first person in the world to use this material but he is the first to use it the way he is.As for the perpetual motion device...

2 posts up should read molecular not atomic. 345am. I'm tired and can't really think straight.

Let's reverse this. 20 years is not a long time. What new breakthroughs have we had in the last 20 years? In technology, I'd say very few. Science has definately amassed much more information... But honestly, I can't think of any specific new technology or breakthrough concept that happened since way back in the ancient days of 1991.

Micro mobiles, communication devices, robots, a car that hits 300mph,the Internet (public use) teleportation/ nano-biotechnology/ time travel
All proven techs from the last 20 years even if we can't do some of them yet well time travel, the rest have been proved if only on a minor scale
Alot of tech out in the last 20 years

Cant wait for nano biotech cloths
Apparently in 10/15 years from now we should be able to create the batman cape from the dark knightby sending a electrical signal through the material you can make the material remember shapes so gliding through the air with a cape would be no problem
Check out the bonus CD from the dark night, it will confirm what I'm talking about, it's all about batmans tech an what is possible with today's tech

The point is: How can you see this display? Can you focus at 0 inches away? It's simply not possible. It would have to project the focused image onto your retina. Where is the power source? The backlight? The compound lens required to focus the light? The signal interface? Is this going to contain wifi? That requires a processor, memory, an antenna, more power.. Even if it was only a dumb display, 20 years isn't long enough in my opinion. -

Huh. So basically, you can't name even a single new idea that has come out in the last 20 years that can be classified as "Holy crap! I wouldn't have believed it possible!"Micro mobiles, communication devices, robots, a car that hits 300mph,the Internet (public use) teleportation/ nano-biotechnology/ time travel

Smaller and faster is not new, and the Internet was made public in 1988, old even then.
No significant new theories of time travel or teleportation have come in that time, and certainly not implemented in any way.
Cell phones were common 20 years ago, GPS is from the 70's, and based on older technology even then. Computers work exactly the same way they did in 1970.
Seriously, what's new under the sun in the last 20 years?

Segways haha
Touch screen technology I'm guessing.I think the coolest tech that I've seen recently is the sixth sense. Check it out on Ted.com
Mapping the human genome.
Recreating synthetic versions of viruses such as the Spanish influenza of 1918 from frozen bodies in a grave way up north.Going to jail because of forensic evidence.

genetic engineering
cloning
stem cell research
Harry potter -
Segway, yeah, laughing is appropriate.
Actually, the first touch screens I used were at Epcot in 1982, but I don't know when the first ones came out.6th sense is a camera, a projector, and a computer. Meh.
The full map of the human genome is cool, but not useful just yet. It's a step. Now, they can do DNA testing on my Son and say exactly what's wrong. They have no clue what it means, but they know where the problem is.
I'm starting to think the digital computer is the last great invention of human kind.
Nuclear Power, Computers, Cameras, Cars, Antibiotics... Those were life changing. The last 20 years have been kind of dull I think. Just evolutionary changes. Nothing to lift us to the next level.

Nah best invention (coolest anyway) of the last 20 years is the optical camouflage system

Lol

Average mob size will be millions.

No, if you actually read the article, and look at the source project, and take off your gullible glasses, you will see that they managed to put biologically safe electronic circuits into a contact lens, including "lights". How can you or anyone else extrapolate from that that they can focus the light on the retina? Or that they can drive a legible display? That any kind of processor could possibly fit in there, let alone the power source. You cannot read illuminated words stuck on your eyeball. This is the same misleading article he is talking about and I've seen it before.

This is the first time I've seen this article. My buddy told me about what they are attempting with contact lenses. And I really haven't looked into it. He would know more then the regular person since it is his field and I highly doubt everything that happens gets released to the general population while it is being worked on.

Since we are on the topic of technology. Have you ever heard of HAARP? I don't know what to believe when it comes to this. I've seen excerpts from patents and it sounds incredibly dangerous. Some of it sounds like teslas work. Or at least things he had written in his notes.
