I knew about presidents day but WTF is family day? Appearently in Canada (idk if it's just Canada) you take a day off (today) to be with ur family............... Am I the only one that thinks this is akward?maybe it's cuz I'm Chicano idk but still...... Who's heard of it (doesn't count if ur from Canada)

Not all of Canada...my province doesn't get a day off...sad face...it's new...only been around for a couple years...I believe it's "Luis real" (sp?) day in the French provines...the English ones where jealous but don't give a damn about louis so they made up family day...I was mad when I found out most of the country has today off but not me haha

strange holidays run state to state too. when I came to providence there was a 3 day weekend everyone was calling "vee jay day." apparently, the state of rhode island and providence plantations (which also happens to be the actual full name of this state) is the only state in the country that chooses to observe Victory Over Japan Day.
I wanted to sell a Hiroshima roll and a Nagisaki Maki at the sushi bar but the bosses said no.

In eastern European countries like Poland and Slovakia they celebrate... Wait for it... Name day. Everybody has a day in which there name is celebrated and it is like a birthday. I laughed at my Polish friend. They also eat fish for Christmas dinner and not Turkey!! WTF !

having turkey for Xmas right after thanksgiving is stupid. I'd rather a duck or goose if it had to be a bird. Christmas pigs are delicious. as are latkes and brisket.
